AGA have recently included a very rewarding new Apprenticeship to our business model, and we are excited to open this up for motivated and reliable individuals to apply to complete this 4-year program and commence a career as an Apprentice: Mechanical Maintenance (Fitter). These roles are open to school leavers, and anyone who may be looking for a new career opportunity.
What You Will Be Doing
As an Apprentice Mechanical Maintenance (Fitting), you are responsible for maintaining the mechanical equipment and associated fixed plant infrastructure to maximise availability in a sustainable cost-effective manner for the process plant and associated infrastructure.
Classroom training will be provided so that you can successfully and confidently complete your nationally recognised qualification.
As part of your Apprenticeship; you will learn
- Competency and coursework requirements for MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting)
- Confined Space Entry Training
- Gain HRL EWP, forklift.
- Working Safely at Heights Training
- Work with pumps and hydraulics, pneumatic systems, mechanical drives, and transmissions.
- Use workshop machines, hand and power tools
- Arc welding and thermal cutting
- Measuring and technical drawing
- Workplace health and safety
- AGAA and site-specific training courses
The program will commence in January 2025 on 8 days, 6 days off roster at Tropicana Gold Mine
After completing this Apprenticeship, your career as a Technician: Mechanical Maintenance Fitter will evolve.
Eligibility
- Have an unwavering commitment to safety.

- Be flexible and thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- An interest in Technology including wireless data, systems etc
- Must have unrestricted(Manual) Licence or be working towards getting it.
- Be able to think logically and keep up with changes in technology.
- Be enthusiastic, motivated with a willingness to learn about this trade.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Underground Mining Industry experience is desirable.
- Have the ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
- Have existing and ongoing valid Australian working rights (Mandatory).
