SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE OF ROLE:
Take an active and leading role in the discovery and conversion of mineral resources associated with mining projects located in the Beatty Nevada District. Mentor, supervise and manage project team members, ensuring the implementation of best practices in mineral resource management (MRM) that are aligned with company objectives.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Lead the discovery, delineation, and conversion of gold resources into minable ores in the Beatty Nevada District.
- Assist the Geology Manager: Nevada Projects in the planning and scheduling of staff and activities in the district.
- Ensure the timely and on-budget completion of work programs by leading and supervising geology field teams.
- Build and further develop the team’s abilities by training and mentoring more junior geologists in industry best- practices and exploration methodologies.
- Interpret datasets collected and provide recommendations for further advancement of projects, aligned with company objectives.
- Prepare prompt, accurate and detailed reports, maps, plans and sections.
- Supervise contractors to complete work in a safe and sustainable manner per the Company and regulatory requirements and standards.
- Assist in development of MRM strategy and in the development of prioritized drilling concepts and budgets.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher (MS preferred) in a Geoscience-related degree.
- Membership in a Geoscience Technical Organization. QP Status preferred.
REQUIRED GENERAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in gold exploration, with significant exposure to porphyry, epithermal, and/or Carlin systems. Nevada based geological experience is preferred.
- Proficient in a wide range of MRM practices and techniques, including geochemistry, structural geology, geological mapping, GIS, sampling methods, drilling and geophysical interpretation.
- Able to apply proper modelling and analytical systems, tools, and skills to develop an understanding of the target/deposit.
- Ability to design efficient drill programs that support resource reporting for gold deposits.
- Excellent awareness and abilities to manage safety, health, and environmental requirements in the workplace.
- Awareness of the cultural and community aspects of operations including the approvals and land access arrangements required.
- Performs activities with limited supervision while remaining within agreed boundaries of activities, methodologies, and company policies & procedures.
- Able to manage project level budgets while ensuring work program completion.
- Fosters a positive team environment among reports, able to read group dynamics and provide constructive feedback when issues arise.
- Able to collaborate well with others, and willing to function as a mentor in any areas of expertise.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full-time, exempt. This is a full-time and predominantly field based position. Rotations having up to 15 consequent, 12-hour workdays are typical but may be adjusted to reflect periods dedicated to office based or another non-field related activities.
COMPENSATION
Base Salary Range $95,004.00 - $135,720.00
