We currently have a key opportunity for a driven Community Relations Advisor to join our Social Performance team within the Sustainability Business Unit in our Australian region.  A Perth based role on a Monday-Friday roster with various travel to our sites and regional communities when required.

Accountable to the Superintendent: Social Performance & Risk, this role is responsible for supporting AGA’s operations to engage with local communities throughout the life cycle of the operations to create shared value and a positive and enduring legacy in support of our values.
 

Role purpose:
To engage and strengthen community relationships particularly with Indigenous, as well as non-Indigenous, stakeholders. This role contributes to AngloGold Ashanti Australia’s social license to operate, proactively identifying risks, engaging, and consulting with our key stakeholders in a consistent, transparent, informed, culturally appropriate and inclusive manner, with the aim of determining the most effective way of creating shared value.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Provide advice on community related issues, recognising the need to manage reputation within the community perceptions of the impact of mining and exploration;
  • Support and maintain strong collaborative stakeholder relationships with colleagues, local communities, business partners, regulators, government and other stakeholders;
  • Implement community relations initiatives, ensuring our presence contributes positively to local communities and addresses their needs to the greatest extent practicable;
  • Assist in monitoring the fulfilment of obligations outlined in Community and Stakeholder Engagement Management Plans and Land Access Agreements;
  • Maintain accurate records of engagement activities and stakeholder interactions;.
  • Identify opportunities for community partnerships and initiatives in line with the Socio-Economic Development Management Plan;
  • Deliver the Social Performance budget to achieve targets in terms of the defined outputs, operating costs, capital costs and timelines; and
  • Contribute to the development, execution and review of relevant AGAA strategies and procedures.

About You

  • Solid working experience in community development and social performance.
  • A tertiary qualification in a social science discipline would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining strong community relationships particularly with Indigenous communities.
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, culturally safe communications and practices.
  • Ability to engage and negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and agreement.
  • Strong situational awareness and judgement.
  • Local knowledge of stakeholders in the WA Goldfields and QLD would be advantageous.
  • Microsoft office, systems and reporting proficiencies.
  • Full work rights in Australia (Mandatory).
  • A National Police Clearance.
