Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
The Logistics Analyst is responsible for analysing logistics and Supply Chain data to support efficient planning, cost control, and operational performance improvement. Shipments monitoring to ensure the consignments which are shipped from Suppliers/Freight Agent are arriving on time and safely to intended destination as well as cargo clearance activities are done timely and in compliant to customs regulations and procedures.
The role provides data driven insights that assist management in optimizing Transportation (both local and internation), Warehousing and Inventory management processes. By monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying operational inefficiencies and preparing analytical reports, the Logistics Analyst supports informed decision-making aimed at improving service delivery to users, resource utilization and overall Supply Chain efficiency.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Monitoring shipments clearance processes and take necessary action with relevant authorities: TASAC, GCLA, TPA, TICTS, ICD’s, TRA, TBS, TMDA, ETC
- Maintain end‑to‑end visibility dashboards for all inbound and outbound shipments, flagging exceptions early for proactive action.
- Conduct root‑cause analyses on delays, port bottlenecks, and customs holdups, and submit corrective action plans to management.
- Monitor container dwell times and escalate cases approaching demurrage thresholds
- Develop weekly and monthly logistics performance reports, including KPIs such as clearance lead time, GIT aging, carrier performance, and freight forwarder SLA compliance.
- Analyse logistics cost trends (freight, port charges, demurrage, storage) and propose cost‑saving opportunities.
- Prepare scenario‑based reports for urgent shipments, high‑risk consignments, or critical supply disruptions
- Verify import/export documents (BLs, AWBs, COO, Form D, invoices, packing lists, import permits) for completeness and regulatory compliance before submission.
- Maintain an auditable filing system for all customs and freight documents, ensuring traceability for internal and external audits.
- Stay updated on customs regulatory changes and advise the business on impacts to clearance processes.
- Use SAP or ERP tools to track shipment status, GRNs, and PO fulfilment and ensure accurate system updates.
- Implement digital tools (e.g., shipment trackers, online customs portals, KPI dashboards) to improve operational transparency.
- Train end users on SAP logistics transactions related to inbound shipments.
- Act as the primary liaison between Supply Chain, Finance, End‑User departments, and Freight Forwarders for shipment-related updates.
- Provide daily updates to critical departments for shipments affecting shutdowns, production, or safety operations.
- Facilitate cross-functional logistics review meetings and ensure closure of agreed actions
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in procurement and supply chain management, logistics management, materials management
- Registered by procurement and supplies professionals and technicians board – PSPTB
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in warehouse and logistics in mining industry or large-scale industries
- Experience with the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, preferably SAP system
- Proven work experience in logistics industry
- Prior experience working on logistics and expediting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
