OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
- Provide day to day technical support to the production team to ensure compliance with agreed mining plans.
- Monitor and check achievement of design parameters for pits, waste dumps and other construction projects while maintaining effective communication with mining and project execution teams.
- Prepare weekly plans, production reports and Bench Operating Plans.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Follow Safe Working Procedures for all routine tasks and act proactively on operational safety matters.
- Prepare weekly pit plans, Bench Operating Plans and Daily Dig Plans in line with the monthly plan and required standards.
- Check achievement of NAF and PAF boundaries and monitor compliance with agreed pit and stockpile designs.
- Use Vulcan or Datamine to complete short term planning design checks, planning changes and production analysis updates.
- Coordinate planning inputs from geology, mining production, geotechnical and engineering teams to support production plan delivery.
- Monitor broken stock levels, equipment productivity, utilization and selected operational costs, and provide timely feedback on risks and opportunities.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Tertiary qualification in Mining or Civil Engineering.
- Registered as a graduate Mining Engineer by the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
- Valid Tanzania Driving Licence.
Experience
- At least 3 years relevant experience in the mining industry, preferably in open pit operations.
- At least 1 year of training exposure across other mine sections such as geology, survey, long term planning, production, and drill and blast.
- Short term planning experience in a mechanised open pit environment.
Knowledge & Skills
- Experience using Vulcan, Datamine, SPRY, Rapid Reserver or similar mining software.
- Experience using spreadsheets and database software packages.
- Good written and oral communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively with technical teams, operational departments and contractor personnel.
- Ability to provide onsite technical support and respond when execution is not in line with agreed plans.
