ABOUT GEITA GOLD MINING LTD

Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

To support the Underground Mine Planning team in the development and execution of safe, efficient, and practical mine plans by applying engineering principles, analysing operational data, and assisting in planning activities, while developing technical competence through structured learning and on-the-job experience.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Assist in preparing short-term and medium-term underground mining plans.
• Support the design of development layouts and stoping plans.
• Contribute to production scheduling to meet planned targets.
• Collect and analyze geological, survey, and production data.
• Monitor planned vs actual performance and identify variances.
• Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly planning reports.
• Use mining planning software such as Deswik, Surpac, or similar tools to support planning activities.
• Assist in updating mining designs and layouts.
• Support engineers in solving technical planning challenges.
• Ensure all planning activities consider safety standards and mining regulations.
• Incorporate ground control, ventilation, and access requirements into plans.
• Promote a strong safety culture in all assigned tasks.
• Identify opportunities to improve mining planning processes and efficiency.
• Support initiatives aimed at optimizing production and reducing costs.
• Contribute ideas for improving planning accuracy and execution.
• Deliver assigned tasks accurately and on time.
• Maintain high standards of quality and attention to detail.
• Take responsibility for continuous personal and professional development.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• Recent graduate or up to 2 years’ experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Interest in underground mining and mine planning
• Willingness to learn and develop in a practical environment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
