OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
- Operate the milling circuit in accordance with GGM standard operating procedures to achieve process plant targets.
- Carry out milling plant activities safely and in compliance with health, safety, environment, security and conduct requirements.
- Work closely with the shift supervisor and relevant support teams to maintain safe and efficient plant operations.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Operate the SAG mill, Ball mill, discharge pumps and associated milling equipment in line with procedures and control room instructions, including safe start-up and shutdown activities.
- Monitor plant conditions and process performance, including mill speed, load, discharge density, hopper levels, lubrication systems and equipment condition, and report defects or abnormalities promptly.
- Maintain water, sump and spillage management systems by controlling pond levels, keeping pumps available, preventing overflows and ensuring spillages are reported and cleaned safely.
- Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards by identifying hazards, using PPE, following permit to work requirements, conducting risk assessments and ensuring emergency equipment is checked.
- Complete inspections, log sheets, sampling, job cards and other operational records accurately and on time and carry out weekly planned tasks and shutdown preparation activities.
- Coordinate effectively with crusher operations, maintenance, training, day service, security and HSE personnel, and intervene in unsafe acts or unusual operating conditions when required.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Ordinary level secondary education or above.
- Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
- Ability to drive a manual vehicle.
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of working experience in the process plant environment.
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems in milling operations.
- Ability to complete repetitive tasks at a consistently high standard.
- Clean criminal record.
