OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

• Work as part of the Engineering team to support planned departmental performance safely, with zero injuries and at the lowest practical unit cost.
• Safely, correctly and efficiently complete approved work and tasks related to fuel delivery and refuelling operations.
• Deliver fuel to equipment in pit areas and other work areas as required, with responsibility for operating the fuel truck and dispensing fuel.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Follow safe working procedures for all refuelling activities, comply with safety requirements, and stop work when conditions are unsafe.
• Operate the fuel truck responsibly by completing pre-start inspections, reporting defects, driving to road and weather conditions, and keeping the truck and bowser clean and serviceable.
• Receive and verify fuel volumes, inspect metering and LAS systems, record starting meter readings, and ensure fuel received is properly signed and accepted.
• Refuel equipment to schedule, respond to operational requests, maintain radio contact as required, and apply correct filling practices including set quantities for lighting plants.
• Accurately record all fuel dispensing information, report fuel theft or system faults immediately, and report equipment issues such as leaks, defective breathers or faulty LAS tags.
• Complete end-of-shift fuel reconciliation, submit fill sheets to the Security Fuel Reconciliation Officer, and account for all fuel with zero loss during the shift.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Secondary education and above.
• Valid Tanzanian driving license E.
• HDV certificate from a recognised college where this category was achieved.
• Defensive Driving or Master-drive is an added advantage.
• No criminal record.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• Minimum three years of experience driving heavy duty vehicles, preferably in the mining industry.
• Experience in accurately recording fuel transactions and reconciling daily fuel usage with zero variance.
• Experience driving Benz trucks, especially Actros, is an added advantage.
• Ability to work under pressure and on a mine site roster.
• Ability to identify and report faulty components on Mercedes Benz Actros 3340 trucks.
• Mining pit and steep terrain driving competence.
• Basic numerical ability for meter reading and fuel recording.
• Strong attention to detail in fuel control and reconciliation.
• Commitment to safety, fuel loss prevention and rapid response to fuel spills.
• Ability to work with integrity, diligence, respect and accountability.
