Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its head office in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and also a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
Geita Gold Mine exploits multiple ore bodies, each with distinct geological characteristics. These variations require disciplined management of ore mining, production tracking, and processing to ensure that material is accurately defined, correctly routed, and optimally blended for plant feed.
Reporting to the Manager Open Pit Mine Geology, the role provides technical leadership and governance across mine geology systems to ensure high‑quality geological data, modelling, and reconciliation that underpin accurate ore definition, efficient mining, and reliable production tracking. By applying advanced geoscience expertise, strong analytical capability, and disciplined systems management, the role ensures geological information is robust, timely, and aligned with operational and business value.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Technical Leadership & Operational Support
- Geological Systems Oversight: Provide expert technical leadership for all geological systems and processes supporting both open-pit and underground mining operations.
- Workflow Integrity: Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of geological data, modeling, and reconciliation workflows.
- Ore Definition & Tracking: Oversee the end-to-end process of defining, mining, and tracking ore to ensure optimal plant feed and maximum gold extraction.
- Advanced Geoscience Expertise: Apply specialized analytical capabilities and disciplined systems management to support effective operational decision-making.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Workflow Optimization: Drive the ongoing improvement of geological workflows to enhance operational performance and data quality.
- Platform Management: Maintain the integrity and functionality of key geological software and data platforms.
- Analytical Reporting: Deliver high-quality analysis and reporting to facilitate informed, data-driven decisions across the mining value chain.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- BSc (Hons) in Geology
Experience
- At least 10 years relevant experience in the Mining Industry is required, with at least 5 years in mineral resource evaluation discipline for gold deposits and registration with a recognized professional body.
- Understanding of the Tanzanian Mining Act 2010 as amended in 2017.
- Understanding of the International Organization for Standardization ISO45001 of 2018 and ISO14001:2015.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge in Mine to Mill Reconciliation
- Competence in Data Analytical tools – Power BI, Microsoft office suite, Connected Mine or similar etc..
- Good knowledge of geological data analysis, interpretation and 3D geological modelling.
- Competence on computer-aided software such as Datamine, Leapfrog, Geovariance Isatis.
- Proven project Management and team supervision.
- Sound understanding of the business unit value drivers.
- Demonstrated capacity to make sound and timely decisions, by quickly assembling the facts to develop action priorities.
- High reliability at work and capable on outcomes delivering.
- Demonstrate behaviors consistent aligned with AGA Values
