Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

 

Providing a secure environment for the conduct of the mine’s activities and security of its assets by enforcing Security policies and procedures and by constant monitoring thereof to ensure compliance.

 

 

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Deployment & Supervision: Assign tasks and ensure team members are posted to specific sectors with necessary equipment, including PPE, radios, and shotguns.
  • Coaching & Oversight: Monitor member capability and provide on-the-job training or coaching to address substandard performance or behavior.
  • Safety Culture: Lead daily toolbox meetings to address safety matters and conduct weekly Planned Task Observations (PTOs).
  • Hazard & Risk Management: Proactively identify, report, and monitor security risks and potential losses within assigned areas.
  • Site Inspection: Conduct regular visits and inspections of contracted security posts to maintain operational and environmental standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all security tools and equipment, including firearms and technology, are maintained according to standard requirements.
  • Compliance & Governance: Comply with Tanzanian legislation, company procedures, AGA safety standards, and Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR).
  • Reporting & Professionalism: Communicate all irregularities to the Shift Coordinator, maintain elite discipline, and project a positive company image.
  • Loss Documentation: Ensure all potential losses are formally reported and signed off to drive continuous improvement.
  • Operational Flexibility: Execute additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

 

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

 

Education & Qualification

  • Ordinary level Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) or above.
  • Valid Tanzanian driving license

 

Experience

  • Four years’ experience in Mining security environment
  • Two years’ experience in Rapid Response Unit/function

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • As required by in-country specific legislative requirements
  • No criminal record
  • Must have a valid driver’s license if driving a company-owned vehicle.
  • Be physically fit and be able to pass pre-employment and medical examinations / screening.
