OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
Provide technical support and geology-related services to Technicians and Geologists in field geological works, drilling operations and Core Yard activities, and support exploration programmes as directed.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support safe execution of exploration, drilling and Core Yard activities by maintaining HSE standards, complying with work procedures and contributing to workplace inspections and toolbox activities.
- Assist geologists and technicians with field work preparation, coordinate geological assistants and ensure required field gear, consumables and resources are available, maintained and fit for purpose.
- Collect, recover, label and transfer geological and drilling samples in line with programme instructions and sampling specifications.
- Support drilling activities by inspecting drill pads before mobilisation, monitoring drilling quality and sample collection practices, and escalating unsafe conditions, poor drilling practices or unsuitable ground conditions.
- Carry out Core Yard duties including drill core fitting, meter marking and sampling according to the provided sample sheet, and support related administrative or non-technical tasks when assigned.
- Maintain good housekeeping, environmental compliance and effective coordination with team members, contractors and field crews to support continuous exploration operations.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Secondary school education certificate, equivalent or higher.
- Valid Tanzanian driving licence is an added advantage.
- Tanzanian Citizen.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in geological field works, drilling and sampling, or other exploration and mining-related activities.
Knowledge & Skills
- Good awareness of safety, health and environmental management in the workplace.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Physically fit and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Fluent in Swahili; English is an added advantage.
- Basic computer literacy in MS Excel and MS Word is an added advantage.
- Driving competence.
- Good teamwork and work relationships.
