OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

Provide technical support on handling and processing of drilling samples at the Geology Coreshed and other related exploration activities, including monitoring work quality and compliance to work standards. Plan routine and daily work schedules for subordinates to ensure activities are performed according to specific procedures and standards.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Perform core marking and geotechnical logging of drill cores prior to sampling for submission into the lab.
• Provide technical support in the field-to-field mapping or drilling crews when required.
• Validate and ensure all collected drillhole information is accurately documented and securely stored in the geological database and systems.
• Verify and ensure drilling samples received from the field are well documented and stored at the Coreshed area.
• Plan routine and daily work schedules for subordinates to ensure activities are performed according to specific work procedures and standards without compromising quality.
• Comply with safety standards by conducting toolbox meetings at places of work and ensuring work procedures are implemented.
• Organise and involve teams in identifying hazards at their places of work and ensure control measures are in place.
• Promptly report all injuries, illnesses, incidents, or any suspected unfit-for-work conditions observed in team members.
• Ensure good housekeeping at the Coreshed area, including proper storage and handling of samples.
• Reconcile sample quality including core marking and recoveries.
• Provide coaching and on-job skills training to subordinates to promote and maintain a technically capable team that can deliver good work output.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Secondary Education or Diploma in Mineral Exploration from a recognized institution.
• Tanzanian Citizen.
• Possession of a Tanzanian Driving License can be an added advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years working experience for Diploma holders on core marking and geotechnical logging or field mapping and exploration drilling involving Diamond and RC drilling.
• Minimum of 3 years working experience for Secondary Education holders on core marking and geotechnical logging or field mapping and exploration drilling involving Diamond and RC drilling.

Knowledge & Skills

• Computer literacy in MS Excel and MS Word.
• Good understanding of departmental and sitewide HSE standards and implementation.

Ability to coordinate and lead small teams at the workplace
