OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

Support underground geology activities through mapping, sampling, logging, drilling quality checks, data validation and reporting to help align underground development with planned stopes and support safe, consistent production delivery.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Coordinate daily underground geology activities, including pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, shift planning and compliance with HSE standards, SOPs and departmental KPIs.
• Conduct geological, structural and geotechnical logging of drill cores and RC chips, and prepare initial geological interpretations to support modelling and operational decisions.
• Undertake underground development mapping, face mapping and sampling, and provide ore drive direction support for Jumbo development as required.
• Monitor grade control and drilling activities, including drill platform preparation, core quality, orientation markings, drilling progress and required survey and grouting updates.
• Validate, capture and maintain geological data quality in the database, and ensure samples are correctly collected, labelled and submitted for laboratory analysis.
• Support inspections, reporting, continuous improvement and on-the-job coaching of junior technicians while assisting the Underground Geologist with daily technical and operational tasks.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Diploma in Geology or Geoscience related fields.
• Tanzanian Citizen.
• Physically fit to work in underground environment.

Experience

• Extensive experience in Underground Geology, including geological and geotechnical logging of drill cores and RC chips.
• Over 5 years of working experience in UG Geology for Diploma holders.
• More than 10 years working experience in Underground Geology environments for Secondary School certificate holders.
• Driving experience with valid Tanzanian driving license is an added advantage.

Knowledge & Skills

• Computer literacy in MS Excel and MS Word.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in underground RC and DD drilling operations monitoring, geotechnical logging, sampling and basic geological interpretation.
• Strong QA/QC and data reconciliation skills.
• Proficiency in geological database use and basic Datamine skills in section definition.
• Strong commitment to HSE practices and operational standards.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to coordinate and lead small teams.
