Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its head office in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and also a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
Support Field Services to meet engineering targets by interpreting manuals and drawings, ordering correct parts, optimizing resources for planned services, and managing routine and special tools to ensure safe and efficient task execution.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Identify and manage workplace hazards to support safe work practices.
- Maintain the tools register, conduct quarterly audits, and report to the Senior Supervisor and Superintendent.
- Identify and order correct parts via SIS in line with work packages; monitor parts usage and control reordering.
- Prepare parts and tools for planned services and breakdowns; raise work in the maintenance system and coordinate with planning.
- Optimize spares and materials under the VMI contracts with MANTRAC and SANDVIK.
- Organize training and provide expert advice on proper tool use; prepare tools budget based on audits and business needs.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- VETA Grade Test level 1-3 in Motor Vehicle Mechanic or FTC/Diploma in Automotive/Mechanical Engineering.
- Degree or equivalent will be an additional advantage.
Experience
- Not less than 5 years' experience on HME mining machines.
- Experienced in HME and computer literate.
- Competence in SIS &OK Information manual.
- Knowledge in tools control software.
- Driving competence.
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in Mechanical and Auto Electrical.
- Competent on HME equipment.
- Able to read and interpret technical drawing.
- Organizational skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to act when assigned.
- Demonstrating work behaviours consistent with company values, policies and prescribed legal requirements.
