OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

The Senior Specialist Controllership executes accurate financial reporting, ensures Group accounting compliance, and strengthens controllership governance. Supporting the Manager Controllership, the role drives SOX compliance, remediates internal control (ICFR) deficiencies, and coordinates external audits. Key priorities include managing SAP/HFM systems integration, analyzing complex accounting matters, and standardizing financial models across entities to support the 'One Finance' vision.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Financial Reporting & GL: Manage General Ledger entries, perform complex reporting calculations (Metals, ORD, Environmental), and ensure monthly income statement and fixed asset compliance.
• Systems & Standards Integration: Execute monthly financial pack uploads into HFM, manage SAP data integrity, and align reported numbers with US GAAP and IFRS standards.
• SOX & Governance: Assist with SOX compliance deliverables, support the remediation of Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) deficiencies, and drive a robust controls culture.
• Audit & Statutory Coordination: Draft statutory financial statements, coordinate working papers, and serve as the central point of contact for internal and external auditors.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the Africa Shared Service Centre, Financial Business Partnering (FBP) teams, and technical units to resolve critical accounting issues.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
• Chartered Accountant, or equivalent qualification

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• 3 years in the mining industry and/or associated business fields, and which should include corporate reporting / financial accounting functions
• Sound Financial Reporting, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US GAAP would be advantageous
• Broad mining exposure
• Strong Excel/TM1 skills and systems knowledge (HFM/SAP)
• Experience of working with cross-functional and geographical teams
• Governance and compliance skills – set organisational standards and processes around governance and compliance
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on detail
• Project Management and Execution – has an understanding of the “bigger picture” and how this drives projects and business cases
