OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

AngloGold Ashanti is seeking a Specialist – Category Management (Mining Contracts) to support the delivery of strategic sourcing initiatives across Contract Mining. This role partners with the Category Manager to drive supplier performance, cost optimisation, and value delivery across critical spend categories. The role has a strong analytical and cost/data-modelling component, supporting robust benchmarking, cost estimation, and financial evaluation of contract mining spend.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Support development and execution of category and sourcing strategies
• Build and maintain cost models and estimating frameworks to evaluate contract mining pricing, productivity, and equipment/labor cost drivers
• Assist with supplier management, negotiations, and contract execution
• Conduct market analysis, benchmarking, and complex cost/financial modelling
• Support tender processes, contract drafting, and SOX compliance
• Analyse spend data to identify cost-saving and value opportunities, using data modelling and statistical/analytical tools
• Contribute to business cases, budgeting analysis, reporting, and category insights
• Support delivery of major contracts and supplier performance initiatives
• Drive continuous improvement and value tracking across the category

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field (MBA advantageous)

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• 3+ years' experience in one or more of the following: procurement/category management, cost engineering/estimating, financial or budgeting modelling, or commercial/data analysis
• Strong analytics and data-modelling background is a priority — candidates with cost estimating, financial modelling, or budgeting experience are strongly encouraged to apply, even without a traditional procurement background
• Experience in mining contracts or mining operations — advantageous
• Advanced cost modelling, spend analysis, and financial/budgeting analysis
• Category management and strategic sourcing
• Supplier and contract management
• Stakeholder engagement and negotiation
• Problem-solving and data-driven decision-making
• SAP and Microsoft Office (advanced Excel/data modelling proficiency essential); experience with BI or analytics tools (Power BI, etc.) a plus
