We are now seeking a full-time Open Pit Project Geologist to join our Mine Geology team at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine.

Accountable to the OP Senior Mine Geologist. This role is based at the Sunrise Dam Mine on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie.

• The Company is highly committed to growing the LOM at Sunrise Dam; the site has the most significant exploration budget in the global portfolio, with A$130M being invested over three years.
• Work in a team at a large-scale UG/OP operation, currently producing 4mtpa.
• You will be working within a large, talented, and diverse Geology team consisting of 20 Exploration Geologists, 25 Mine Geologists, 30 Geology Technicians, and 160 drilling contractors. In addition, the role is supported by an in-house Resource Evaluation team and Technical Specialist group.

The key accountabilities of the role include:     

• Commitment to living the AGA Values, particularly Safety First, is promoted by conducting safety interactions across the mine workgroups.
• Taking lead and assisting the Senior Geologist on key value-adding projects.
• Training, coaching, and mentoring the Mine Geologists and delegating when appropriate.
• Designing and signing off on grade control drilling programs for short and medium term planning. requirements, as well as scheduling and coordinating grade control drilling.
• Geological mapping, utilising digital technology.
• 3D geological modelling to be incorporated into grade control, and resource models.
• Creation of short and medium term GC block models, incorporating geo-metallurgical parameters.
• Coordinate and interpret blast movement through BMT technology.
• Contribute to short and medium term mining schedules and co-ordination of material movement and crusher feed with the Mining Alliance partners.
• Interpretation, validation and analysis of QAQC data relating to drilling, sampling and assaying. Ensure high quality sampling and lab protocols are upheld.
• Compilation and validation of ore production and stockpile data for reporting cycles.
• Assist in stockpile management, mine to mill and resource reconciliations.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team by constructively identifying opportunities and testing solutions.

About you

• BSc in Geology or higher-level qualifications
• 3+ years mine geology experience
• A high degree of organisational and administrative skills
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
• Excellent communication & people skills
• Strong grasp of mining geology, including gold sampling and assaying, geological interpretation, grade modelling.
• Proficiency in Office suite, Vulcan, Datashed.
• Experience in Vulcan, Datashed, Leapfrog and MP3 estimation software or equivalent is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
• Enjoys coaching and mentoring junior staff in geological thinking, interpretation, and 3D modelling.
• Very strong written, verbal, and presentation skills would be highly regarded.
• Permanent work rights in Australia. (Mandatory)
• Current C class Manual Drivers Licence.
• A National Police Clearance.
