OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
- Provide metallurgical engineering support for capital projects, plant improvement initiatives, and operational enhancement programmes at the Mine.
- Ensure metallurgical requirements are effectively incorporated into project designs, engineering studies, construction activities, commissioning, operational readiness, and operational handover.
- Support the delivery of safe, efficient, and cost-effective metallurgical solutions by applying mineral processing knowledge, analysing process performance, managing metallurgical test work, and ensuring project outcomes achieve targeted gold recovery, throughput, and production objectives.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Provide metallurgical engineering input throughout project phases, including concept studies, pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, detailed engineering designs, execution, commissioning, and operational readiness.
- Support project teams in evaluating process options and selecting appropriate metallurgical solutions.
- Develop and review design criteria, process assumptions, technical specifications, engineering drawings, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, modelling drawings, equipment specifications, and vendor documentation from a metallurgical perspective.
- Develop metallurgical test work programmes to support project studies and process improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate laboratory test work, pilot plant trials, and sampling programmes with internal and external laboratories.
- Analyse and interpret test results to determine ore behaviour, recovery potential, reagent requirements, and process risks.
- Provide recommendations for process flowsheet development and optimisation.
- Support the development and optimisation of gold processing circuits, operations, and gold recovery systems.
- Conduct metallurgical mass balances, recovery calculations, and process performance assessments.
- Provide metallurgical support during construction, commissioning, ramp-up, and handover activities.
- Develop commissioning plans, schedules, metallurgical test procedures, and performance acceptance criteria.
- Support knowledge transfer and operational readiness activities for process plant personnel.
- Collect, analyse, and interpret metallurgical and operational data to evaluate process performance.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, project updates, and recommendations for management review.
- Maintain accurate metallurgical documentation and document control systems, including test work reports, operating philosophies, and process design records.
- Support investment decisions, value assessments, project budgets, capital cost estimates, operating cost estimates, and cost controls through technical decisions, accurate engineering inputs, and optimisation of metallurgical solutions.
- Support contract negotiations and technical evaluation of vendors, consultants, and engineering contractors.
- Collaborate with project managers, process engineers, mining teams, geology teams, operations personnel, maintenance teams, original equipment manufacturers, engineering contractors, technical specialists, and external consultants.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Tertiary degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mineral Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- PMP is an advantage.
- Valid Ghanaian manual driver's licence, as required by site, is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant metallurgical experience in gold processing, mineral processing operations, or mining projects.
- Working knowledge of capital project evaluation, cost control, and project governance.
- Experience within a large-scale gold mining operation.
- Experience supporting brownfield projects, plant upgrades, or expansion projects.
- Exposure to EPC or EPCM project environments and commissioning activities.
- Experience with metallurgical modelling, process simulation, and technical studies.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of mineral processing principles and metallurgical engineering practices.
- Ability to interpret metallurgical test work and apply results to process design.
- Knowledge of process plant equipment selection and operating parameters.
- Ability to perform metallurgical balances and analyse process data.
- Strong technical writing and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and metallurgical software is advantageous.
