AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
Support the safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of underground infrastructure and capital projects within assigned mining block(s) by assisting with project planning, engineering preparation, and execution coordination; ensure project scopes, designs, and schedules are integrated into planning systems and aligned with operational requirements; contribute to optimisation, compliance with technical standards, and effective delivery of infrastructure projects that support underground mining operations.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Demonstrate and uphold AngloGold Ashanti’s values in all decisions, actions, and professional conduct.
- Allocate a minimum of 30% of time to actively support full compliance with site safety requirements and foster a culture of zero harm across all activities.
- Maintain a minimum of 30% underground presence to support operational effectiveness, validate designs, and contribute to continuous improvement through direct engagement with execution teams.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation including scopes of work, risk assessments, Project Work Instructions, and supporting technical documentation required for safe project execution.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of underground infrastructure and capital projects within assigned mining block(s), ensuring integration of project activities into planning systems such as Deswik.
- Support the preparation and review of project-related engineering deliverables including infrastructure layouts, drill designs, charge plans, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with the development of cost estimates, scope documentation, and supporting information required for capital project proposals and AFE submissions.
- Coordinate with operations, contractors, and technical services teams to support the execution of project activities in accordance with approved scope, schedule, and safety requirements.
- Monitor project progress and assist with tracking schedule performance, costs, and execution milestones.
- Support the maintenance and updating of mine services and reticulation line drawings to ensure alignment with infrastructure installations and operational requirements.
- Assist in project reporting activities including preparation of progress updates, documentation of execution status, and identification of risks or constraints affecting delivery.
- Contribute to business improvement initiatives and assist with implementing project-related enhancements that improve compliance, efficiency, and delivery performance.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mining, Civil, Mechanical) or a related discipline.
- Additional training in project management or underground infrastructure planning is desirable.
- PMP or GHIE is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in underground mining, with exposure to infrastructure or project-focused roles.
- Working knowledge of capital project evaluation, mine services design, and underground project execution.
- Familiarity with integrating drill designs and infrastructure layouts into mine planning software (e.g. Deswik).
- Exposure to Alliance-style contractor-owner environments and cross-functional collaboration.
- Understanding of project scopes, sequencing, and cost alignment within operational schedules.
- Valid Ghanaian manual driver's licence (as required by site).
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in Deswik CAD and MS Excel and familiarity with Deswik Scheduler is an advantage.
- Auto CAD.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to support planning discussions and documentation.
- Analytical mindset with attention to design accuracy, compliance, and execution requirements.
- Ability to work underground as required, including travel between work areas.
- Capable of using a computer for extended periods in an office environment.
- Physically fit to meet site medical and functional capacity requirements.
