AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
To Operate and maintain OEC's data and information layer, converting execution data (fleet management software, supervisory/SCADA, tracking software, HME telemetry, radios/telephony, tickets) into minimum indicators, dashboards, and official reports for tactical decision-making (D, D+1, 7/21) and performance management. Provide complete, timely, and traceable information, operating from OEC's single source of truth.
The Specialist, Data Analysis is mandated to provide complete, timely, and traceable information, maintain logical models, ETLs/ELTs, and quality validations (completeness, integrity, timeliness), publish a data dictionary and indicator catalog, and operate under change governance in alignment with the Systems Specialist. The role is not first-level support; it is an official producer of information: it orchestrates collection, handles quality, publishes packages and dashboards at target times, detects anomalies, opens data incidents when necessary, and trains users on the correct use of information.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Demonstrate and uphold AngloGold Ashanti’s values in all decisions, actions, and professional conduct.
- Allocate a minimum of 30% of time to actively support full compliance with site safety requirements and foster a culture of zero harm across all activities.
- Information dashboard: maintain single repository (presentation layer) with current version and history as only reference for OEC indicators and minimum reports.
- Modelling & pipelines: design and maintain logical models/fact tables and dimensions; build ETL/ELT with scheduling and execution logs.
- Data quality: implement automatic rules for completeness, integrity, uniqueness, temporal consistency, timeliness; publish quality scorecards.
- Packages and deadlines: Daily, D+1 package, intraday updates of tactical dashboards (minimum hourly).
- Anomalies and alerts: implement simple detections (limit rules, variation vs. average/median), notify responsible parties.
- Security/Compliance: apply access profiles by level, masking of personal data, retention, and audit trail.
- Change governance: participate in functional acceptance of changes affecting data/reports; version queries, scripts, dashboards.
- Training & usage support: publish guide for using dashboards/reports; conduct quick training sessions.
- Ensure data governance (dictionary, quality, retention, traceability).
- Ensure information security (profiles, segregation, logs, backups).
- Accountable for maintaining data quality and integrity across mine dispatch and operational support systems.
- Accountable for ensuring compliance with internal reporting procedures and standards to support reliable data capture and communication.
- Implementation of business improvement initiatives through system enhancement.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Production Engineering, Mining Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields
- Postgraduate degree in Analytics, Business Intelligence, Professional certifications or related areas (desirable)
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in data analysis, preferably in industrial or mining environments
- Experience in data modelling and visualization, statistical analysis, and integration of different sources of information
- Experience in analyzing performance indicators and monitoring execution of medium-term and short-term plans
- Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary areas and integrating corporate results
- Knowledge in underground mining processes and production flows
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in data analytics tools and operational indicators
- Development and maintenance of dashboards and management reports
- Advanced knowledge of Business Intelligence tools and relational databases
- Ability to validate and audit information to ensure integrity
- Ability to integrate technical and operational data for decision-making
- Advanced knowledge of production, safety, and quality KPIs
- Understanding of integrated operational management systems (Mobilaris, FMS, ERP)
- Ability to arbitrate conflicts and prioritize under pressure
- Ability to work underground as required, including travel between work areas
- Capable of using a computer for extended periods in an office environment
- Physically fit to meet site medical and functional capacity requirements
- Valid drivers’ licence
