AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

 

Lead the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of Local Procurement Spend, ensuring compliance with L.I. 2431 and maximizing Ghanaian participation across the supply chain.

 

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Identify and qualify local suppliers, maintain a dynamic Local Content Database, and surface opportunities early in the procurement process.
  • Assess localization potential of products and services and redirect spend to capable local companies, coordinating development, training, funding, or technical facilitation as needed.
  • Prepare and submit the Annual Local Content Plan and semi-annual performance reports to the Minerals Commission and deliver BU reporting against targets and plans.
  • Engage procurement teams, community heads, regulators, and other stakeholders; educate stakeholders on local content regulations and implications for the business.
  • Monitor legislative changes and advise on operational and commercial impacts; ensure compliance with legal and internal requirements.
  • Lead safety and environmental obligations including risk assessments, incident reporting and closure, and adherence to environmental procedures and plans.

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

 

Education & Qualification

 

  • Bachelor’s qualification, preferably in Business, Commercial, Supply Chain, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Post Graduate Qualification is a strong preference.

 

Experience

 

  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience in Supply Chain or local content/supplier development.
  • Strong track record in business improvement and change management.

 

Knowledge & Skills

 

  • Knowledge of the Minerals and Mining (Local Content and Local Participation) Regulations, 2020 (L.I. 2431) and the Local Procurement List.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; MS Project beneficial.
  • Data analytics capability for tracking spend and localization KPIs.
  • Strategic and analytic thinking with commercial acumen.
  • Negotiations and influencing skills; leadership and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of Incoterms, import processes, spend and financial analysis, and mining industry activities.
  • Experience with SAP ERP.
