AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
- The Specialist Mining Contracts ensures the effective management, administration, and optimization of mining, technical, and operational contracts.
- This role involves interpreting commercial terms, monitoring contractor performance against KPIs, and integrating contract requirements into operational planning.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Contract Administration: Maintain documentation, validate cost submissions, and manage variations or progress claims to ensure site governance.
- Performance & Compliance: Monitor contractor productivity and KPIs, spending approximately 30% of time in the field for compliance verification.
- Commercial Analysis: Support cost modeling, rate analysis, and commercial evaluations for tenders and renewals.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate with Finance, Supply Chain, and Technical teams to align contractor deliverables with operational and budget requirements.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
- Possession of a recognized professional First Aid Certificate and a MINCOM Shift boss or higher Certificate of Competency is desirable but not a pre-requisite.
- Valid Ghanaian manual driver's licence (as required by site).
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in underground mining, technical services, commercial analysis, or contract administration.
- Experience interpreting mining contract scopes, schedules of rates, claims, and contractor performance data.
- Demonstrated experience in mining cost modelling
- Understanding of underground mining methods, production activities, development sequencing, and operational cost drivers.
- Ability to validate physicals, quantities, labour/equipment usage, and contractor submissions against contract terms.
- Experience contributing to reconciliation processes and cost variance analysis.
- Exposure to planning inputs (e.g. development metres, stope sequences, infrastructure timing) to support alignment between commercial requirements and operational delivery.
- Training or exposure to mine scheduling software such as Deswik is required.
- Training or exposure to mining contract management, commercial analysis and cost modelling
- Proficiency in Excel for cost modelling, analysis, reconciliation, and dashboard reporting.
- Strong understanding of commercial terms, contract governance, and cost structures.
- Ability to work underground as required, including travel between work areas.
