AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
- Lead the Quality Assurance and Control and Risk Management function for all underground mining projects (Infrastructure and Capital Projects) at Cote d’Or as a regulatory mandated role.
- Supervise and coordinate daily project activities to ensure safe and efficient delivery of development and rehabilitation activities, including planning work schedules, monitoring project targets, resolving operational challenges, and maintaining adherence to mining standards.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Demonstrate and uphold AngloGold Ashanti’s values in all decisions, actions, and professional conduct.
- Allocate a minimum of 70% of time to actively support full compliance with site safety requirements and foster a culture of zero harm across all activities.
- Maintain a minimum of 70% underground presence to actively support operational effectiveness, validate designs, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through direct engagement with execution teams.
- Ensure compliance with project planning standards through the development, maintenance, and application of project documentation, risk assessments, and Project Work Instructions for safe and effective project delivery.
- Develop and maintain constructive relationships with stakeholders to collaboratively and effectively deliver according to project timelines and schedule.
- Participate in planning forums and coordination meetings to ensure project activities are integrated with operational schedules, mine planning requirements, and infrastructure development priorities.
- Provide inputs to the planning, review, and execution tracking of the Cote d’Or capital projects and infrastructure.
- Oversee project progress at Cote d’Or and coordinate with operational teams and contractors to ensure activities are executed in accordance with approved scope, schedule, and safety requirements.
- Establish the QAQC, Risk Management, and Contractor engagement processes and procedures for the Cote d’Or works and make them operationally ready.
- Provide inputs to the preparation of capital project proposals including cost estimates, scope definition, and documentation required for AFE submissions for the Cote d’Or project.
- Rigorously drive implementation of projects and strategies and nurture and sustain a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the Projects department.
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets and provide updates on cost performance and potential variances.
- Support business improvement initiatives and contribute to the implementation of project-related improvements that enhance compliance, efficiency, and project delivery performance.
- Deliver the work of the Cote d’Or Project within approved budget targets and specified timeframes, costs, and related KPIs.
- Adhere to departmental guidelines and procedures related to the safe execution of project timelines and weekly schedule integration for project execution.
- Provide inputs to the weekly and 12-week schedules, reconciliation processes, schedule compliance, and daily/monthly reporting.
- Provide inputs to void management, ventilation requirements, ground support considerations, geotechnical assessments, and emergency planning.
- Align with the Capital AFE process and strategic and business planning deliverables.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- BSc/Diploma degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent operational experience.
- Mine Captain’s Certificate of Competency or equivalent, as required by the Minerals Commission (Chief Inspector of Mines).
- Additional training in project management or underground infrastructure planning is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum six years’ operational experience in underground mining.
- Exposure to alliance-style contractor-owner environments and cross-functional collaboration.
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with Mining Software.
- Understanding of project scopes, sequencing, and cost alignment within operational schedules.
- Demonstrated capacity to interpret data and successfully action sound tactical decisions.
- Safety (Advanced Application): Can identify and interpret safety risks and resolve emerging issues; ensuring that appropriate focus and resources are available to achieve safety objectives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to support planning discussions and documentation.

- Valid Ghanaian manual driver's licence (as required by site).
