OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
- The Technician, Electrical - Process Plant reports to the Supervisor, Electrical – Process Plant and is accountable for executing all types of plant electrical maintenance as required and tasked, covering day/night shift plus reliever in a safe and compliant manner during refurbishment and later maintenance of the underground infrastructure.
- The role is required to execute work in accordance with detailed tasking and in line with applicable Government of Ghana and AGAG safety and environmental requirements.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Work compliantly with the requirements of Government of Ghana agencies, environmental, health and safety legislation, and AGAG regulation.
- Accept personal responsibility for own health and safety and that of every mine worker affected by the work.
- Comply with AGAG environmental management, compliance and other legal requirements.
- Take action to prevent environmental pollution.
- Comply with and follow operating procedures and environmental rules for the performance of assigned work.
- Correct or report to the Supervisor any observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions, and make suggestions to improve environmental management.
- Follow established procedures if an incident occurs by reporting to the Supervisor.
- Adhere to the site Environmental Management Plan.
- Interface with contractors and construction teams as directed regarding electrical work tasks for refurbishment works and planned works supporting the overall work plan, schedule and expectations.
- Attend training, development and performance improvement training as required.
- Execute electrical refurbishment and maintenance work items as tasked, in compliance with all relevant Government of Ghana and AGAG regulations.
- Execute daily pre-start checks of equipment and tools prior to leaving the workshop and escalate and report any anomalies.
- Assess all equipment required for completion of tasked work, create checklists and transport all tools necessary for task completion.
- Recognise machine, equipment or crane operation anomalies indicating maintenance requirements, and report and escalate them.
- Provide data and information to support the Maintenance Planner to close out work orders in SAP on completion of process plant and equipment refurbishment and maintenance activities.
- Carry out work cost effectively.
- Execute work in a timely manner.
- Operate all equipment within the safe working envelope and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.
- Report and escalate issues directly to the Electrical Supervisor – Process Plant as recognised.
- Stop equipment operation if there is a high risk or if it is unsafe to use.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Secondary education level.
- Certificate of successful completion of a recognised electrical trade apprenticeship such as City and Guilds.
- Electrical certificate.
Experience
- Five years of post-apprenticeship work experience in an electrical trade in an industrial environment.
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with the Ghana Minerals and Mining Health, Safety and Technical Regulation.
- Fully literate and numerate.
- Fully competent in the electrical trade.
- Consistent with the company values.
