OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

• The Technician, Electrical - Process Plant reports to the Supervisor, Electrical – Process Plant and is accountable for executing all types of plant electrical maintenance as required and tasked, covering day/night shift plus reliever in a safe and compliant manner during refurbishment and later maintenance of the underground infrastructure.
• The role is required to execute work in accordance with detailed tasking and in line with applicable Government of Ghana and AGAG safety and environmental requirements.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Work compliantly with the requirements of Government of Ghana agencies, environmental, health and safety legislation, and AGAG regulation.
• Accept personal responsibility for own health and safety and that of every mine worker affected by the work.
• Comply with AGAG environmental management, compliance and other legal requirements.
• Take action to prevent environmental pollution.
• Comply with and follow operating procedures and environmental rules for the performance of assigned work.
• Correct or report to the Supervisor any observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions, and make suggestions to improve environmental management.
• Follow established procedures if an incident occurs by reporting to the Supervisor.
• Adhere to the site Environmental Management Plan.
• Interface with contractors and construction teams as directed regarding electrical work tasks for refurbishment works and planned works supporting the overall work plan, schedule and expectations.
• Attend training, development and performance improvement training as required.
• Execute electrical refurbishment and maintenance work items as tasked, in compliance with all relevant Government of Ghana and AGAG regulations.
• Execute daily pre-start checks of equipment and tools prior to leaving the workshop and escalate and report any anomalies.
• Assess all equipment required for completion of tasked work, create checklists and transport all tools necessary for task completion.
• Recognise machine, equipment or crane operation anomalies indicating maintenance requirements, and report and escalate them.
• Provide data and information to support the Maintenance Planner to close out work orders in SAP on completion of process plant and equipment refurbishment and maintenance activities.
• Carry out work cost effectively.
• Execute work in a timely manner.
• Operate all equipment within the safe working envelope and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.
• Report and escalate issues directly to the Electrical Supervisor – Process Plant as recognised.
• Stop equipment operation if there is a high risk or if it is unsafe to use.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Secondary education level.
• Certificate of successful completion of a recognised electrical trade apprenticeship such as City and Guilds.
• Electrical certificate.

Experience

• Five years of post-apprenticeship work experience in an electrical trade in an industrial environment.

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with the Ghana Minerals and Mining Health, Safety and Technical Regulation.
• Fully literate and numerate.
• Fully competent in the electrical trade.
• Consistent with the company values.
