We are seeking a Specialist Project Engineering to join our Projects and Construction team in a regional role predominantly based at Tropicana Gold Mine. Reporting to the Director Projects and Construction, this is a fixed-term opportunity (12 months) offered on a 4/3 FIFO roster from Perth. Direct charter flights to and from Tropicana Gole Mine are provided.
As this is a regional role, some time will be required in the Perth office to support project planning and integration with the Engineering and Project Management functions within the Projects Department. When working from Perth, roster will be a 5/2.
About the Role
The primary focus of the role will be to integrate the project execution process between the project design/scoping discipline, and the construction team delivering projects on Site. This includes implementation planning, procurement tasks, construction, commissioning, and handover for the assigned projects within scope, budget and schedule. All projects are to be executed in compliance with the AGA Global Project Standards and the Australia Region Project framework.
- Engage with stakeholders to define project requirements and desired outcomes.
- Provide support for implementing systems that align with and improve HSE performance during the construction phase on site.
- Support Project Managers in executing projects in accordance with approved project management plans and, where applicable, lead the development of project management documentation and planning activities.
- Participate in and lead project procurement activities to ensure cost-effective project execution and identify cost-saving opportunities across the project portfolio.
- Coordinate the transfer of scopes of work into work packages, construction methodologies, and quality plans to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with approved project plans.
- Manage project scope by reviewing design drawings, scopes of work, and undertaking work package planning for site execution in line with project plans.
- Manage project schedules by reviewing schedules against site requirements and monitoring and reporting on project progress.
- Manage project costs under both lump-sum and schedule-of-rates contracts, identifying cost-saving opportunities and synergies between work packages and contractors across sites. Review and assist with the preparation of cost forecasts.
- Implement Quality Management Plans to meet QA/QC requirements for work packages. Track the progress of completed work check sheets, monitor compliance with design requirements, and support completions planning and site stakeholder engagement, including punch listing, walkdowns, and construction verification.
- Support contractor management through the review of project management plans and follow-up of contractual requirements during project execution.
- Work closely with site teams to ensure project activities are integrated into existing planning routines and shutdown schedules, while minimising impacts on production.
- Communicate project progress, risks, and potential interactions effectively with all stakeholders.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply your technical skills in a dynamic mining environment while contributing to the long-term integrity and performance of a world-class gold processing operation.
