Due to an internal move, we are currently seeking a Senior Mine Geologist to join our Geology team at our Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. This role being accountable to the Superintendent: Mine Geology.
This position is based at the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on an 8/6 FIFO roster, where we operate direct flights to our sites from Perth and/or Kalgoorlie.
Accountabilities:
- Demonstrate a strong affinity with AGA values especially in safety ‘walking the talk.’
- A sound understanding of the open pit geology processes to effectively supervise the training and development of the open pit geology team and mentor them in all aspects of their roles.
- Manage all open pit grade control processes and related production activities and implement effective strategies for maintaining the quality of mine delivered grade to optimize mill feed.
- Ensure grade control models are generated to a high standard, using conditional simulation and other estimation techniques.
- Undertake the open pit weekly and end of month (EOM) grade and tonnage reconciliations & contribute to EOM reconciliation report.
- Plan & manage open pit grade control drilling, mapping and sampling activities.
- Collaborate with the open pit mine planning and operational team to develop short and long-term mine plans for maximizing ore recovery and minimize dilution.
- Continually review the mine geology & open pit operational practices to identify improvement opportunities and initiatives.
- Using your experience to deliver industry best practices in the following key aspects of work: drill program design, QAQC, database management, reconciliations and material tracking, all with the aim of maximizing the value extracted from the operation.
- Building and maintaining cooperative and collaborative working relationships with relevant stakeholders and alliance partners across site.
- Completing all tasks in accordance with all relevant safety instructions, procedures and rules, and the Duty of care.
About You

- A relevant tertiary degree in Geology.
- Extensive experience (+7 years) working in Production Geology within open pit hard rock mining operations, preferably as a Senior.
- A strong sense of safety.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities to positively lead a team and manage contractors.
- Proven experience in open pit grade control, reconciliation and resource estimation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across diverse teams.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, busy, fast paced mining environment.
- A comprehensive understanding of the mining cycle.
- Proficient in 3D software packages. Experience in Vulcan and Leapfrog is highly regarded.
- Experienced in QAQC practices.
- Australian working rights
- Current C class Manual Drivers Licence.
- The ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
