We are currently seeking a Senior Production Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis at Tropicana Gold Mine.

Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, this role has a mix between a technical and leadership tasks and will lead and provide guidance to a well-connected and supportive team of open pit production engineers.

This role is offered on an 8/6 FIFO roster with flights directly to site from Perth or Kalgoorlie. Other flexible roster options will also be considered.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Coordinating coaching and mentoring Mining Engineers on daily activities
  • Provide technical expertise, support and ongoing development of the Production team
  • Ensure implementation and compliance of the Weekly Plan
  • Peer review and quality control of the engineering design and plans
  • Ensure all engineering and planning activities comply with the relevant site standards and operating procedures
  • Providing production inputs to Monthly plan and communicate risks with key stakeholders

 

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
  • Previous operational experience in hard rock open pit mining
  • Prior experience in mine design and scheduling software (Vulcan, Surpac or Deswik)
  • Competent in daily/weekly and monthly planning
  • Strong understanding of open pit mining practice
  • Knowledge of open pit design, scheduling and drilling and blasting
  • Proficient computer skills with MS Office
  • Experience of mentoring graduate/mining engineers
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, including report writing, procedural and training documentation.
  • Unrestricted Quarry manager certificate or ability to acquire one - Desirable
  • A current Western Australian ‘C’ class drivers license
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
  • Permanent work rights in Australia are mandatory
