We currently have an exciting new venture, where we seek a Safety & Health Specialist to join the Australian Greenfields Explorations business unit.

Reporting to Principal : Exploration Projects, the role purpose is to support the safety and health functions across a 24-month period in accordance with statutory requirements, AGA values, standards, policies and procedures. The key position will provide technical support and safety leadership to the team in promoting a zero-harm culture and sustainable discovery.

 

Activities to support include but are not limited to, DDH, RC, and AC drilling (with double-shifted DDH as required), as well as ground and airborne geophysical surveys using electrical and other methods.

 

Based in Perth, this fixed-term (24-month) role operates on a 5/2 roster, with regular site travel required to our Laverton Project. Days spent on site over weekends and public holidays are claimed as days in lieu.
 

Accountabilities:
 

  • To work with the regional Greenfields management review group to ensure appropriate planning for H&S compliance and activities.
  • Provide professional H&S support and advice to the Exploration Principal as well as develop H&S aspects of the short to medium-term exploration strategy.
  • Support identification of H&S risks and resolution of emerging issues and/or escalating issues.
  • Work with key external stakeholders (e.g. drilling & geophysical contractors) to coordinate site access requirements and maintain safe systems of work.
  • Provide required reporting requirements on H&S related activities, issues and performance against plan.
  • Monitor and recommend improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the HSE management system, and requisite behaviours and practices.
  • Identify and execute initiatives to support continuous improvement.
  • Comply with legal, regulatory and statutory requirements, manage performance, and develop team capabilities to meet desired outcomes.

 

About You:

  • A tertiary qualification in a Safety and Health related field or other relevant/complementary qualifications
  • Several years working experience in a mining, exploration, resource, construction or heavy industry role. Experience in a Greenfields Exploration environment will be highly regarded.
  • Practical knowledge of working in hazardous industries with the capacity to readily identify, assess and provide professional direction in relation to the exploration risk profile. Broad based knowledge and understanding of hazards and impacts associated with exploration, mining operations or other high risk industry.
  • Display flexibility with regard to challenging tasks and assignment of priorities.
  • Demonstrated and influential leadership in the management of safety, health, environment, security, cultural heritage, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Sound cross-cultural and cross-functional communication skills.
  • A willingness to work with a diverse team comprising of technical and operational members.
  • Adhering and standing by our core values with a number one focus on safety.
  • A sound understanding of applicable legislation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office suite, SharePoint, MS Teams, GPS tools, ArcGIS and learning new systems.
  • Medically fit to work in remote locations
  • Australian working rights and a current passport holder.
