Ready to further develop your professional journey with AngloGold Ashanti? The position of Exploration Project Geologist, reporting to the Senior Resource Definition Geologist, will see the successful candidate designing and supervising the execution and interpretation of drill programs that add value to existing resources, locating the next viable ore bodies and extending the Life of Mine.

This position is based at our Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on an 8/6 FIFO roster, where we operate direct flights and a quick commute to our sites from Perth and Kalgoorlie.

Role:

Project Exploration Geologist

Accountabilities:

• Maintaining a high standard of safety by complying with all relevant safety instructions, procedures and rules and the duty of care for employees as legislated
• Provide training and mentorship to Exploration Geologists
• Oversee the analysis, interpretation, modelling and reporting of geological data.
• Creating detailed and accurate models of geology and mineralisation to guide our exploration efforts
• High quality geological logging of diamond drill core and RC
• Design, coordination and management of drill programs from Blue Sky to Resource Definition
• Monitoring performance to plan of exploration target objectives and providing concise recommendations for next steps
• Develop analytical systems to improve geological interpretation, improve confidence in geological models and develop exploration targeting methodologies
• Support the Exploration Team in the discovery of resources to meet annual depletion of resource/reserves and work towards the discovery of new orebodies
  
  

About You

• Passionate about exploration geology and driven to making the next big discovery at Sunrise Dam
• Demonstrated skills in target generation and discovery
• High proficiency in Leapfrog modelling software and good understanding of its capabilities
• Experience in geochemical analysis and interpretation using IoGAS
• Proficiency in the geological structural interpretation and relevant analysis tools.
• High level of understanding of gold mineralised systems and exploration targeting processes
• Sound understanding of economic drivers to deliver return on exploration investment
• Proficient in designing optimal drilling platforms to meet short to long term Exploration drill programs
• Solid exposure in geological logging diamond drill core and RC

• Good writing and verbal communication skills
• Ability to do report writing and geological presentations
• Proficiency in developing and training Exploration Geologists.
