These are two of Western Australia’s premier gold operations, with ongoing investment and exploration taking place across both open pit and underground operations at each site.

We are currently seeking a Senior Mine Geologist to join our UG Geology team at our Sunrise Dam Gold Mine.  This role being accountable to the Superintendent: Mine Geology.

This position is based at our Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on an 8 days on/6 days off FIFO roster, where we operate direct flights to our sites from Perth and/or Kalgoorlie.
 

Accountabilities:
 

  • Demonstrate a strong affinity with AGA values especially in safety ‘walking the talk.’
  • Ensure Mine Geology dept activities are carried out safely in accordance with AGA safety standards and policies
  • Effectively supervise the Under Ground(UG) Mine Geology team, focused on the training, development & mentoring of team members in all aspects of their duties.
  • Oversee short-term and long-term Grade Control (GC) schedules are aligned to mining plan with the goal of achieving 18 months of GC drilled stocks.
  • Undertake the Weekly and End of Month (EOM) Mine to Mill grade and tonnage reconciliations & contribute to EOM reconciliation report.
  • Plan & supervise UG GC drilling, mapping and geological interpretation/domaining activities.
  • Collaborate with the UG mine planning and operational team to ensure short-term mine plan is aligned with budget and forecasts and communicate any risks/opportunities to the plan.
  • Ensure effective Stockpile management for optimal mill feed blend.
  • Continually review the Mine Geology & UG operational practices to identify improvement opportunities and initiatives.
  • Using your experience to deliver industry best practices in the following key aspects of work: drill program design, QAQC, database management, reconciliations and material tracking, all with the aim of maximizing the value extracted from the operation.
  • Building and maintaining cooperative and collaborative working relationships with relevant stakeholders and alliance partners across site.
  • Completing all tasks in accordance with all relevant safety instructions, procedures and rules, and the Duty of care.

 

About You

  • A relevant tertiary degree in Geology.
  • Extensive experience working in Production Geology within UG hard rock mining operations, preferably as a Senior.
  • A strong sense of safety.
  • Demonstrated abilities to effectively supervise a team and manage contractors.
  • Solid understanding of UG ore control, reconciliation and estimation practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, busy, fast paced mining environment.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the UG mining cycle.
  • Proficient in 3D software packages.  Experience in Vulcan, Leapfrog & Deswik is highly regarded.
  • Experienced in QAQC practices.
  • Australian working rights
  • Current C class Manual Drivers Licence.
  • The ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
