We currently have a rare permanent opportunity for a Superintendent : Mine Engineering to join our Underground Mining team at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine.

Accountable to the Director: Technical Services, this role is responsible for leading a team of Engineers to create and implement short- and medium-term plans required to operate the underground mine.

Offered on a FIFO 8/6, 4/3 roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie, we offer a quick commute and a direct flight to camp and site.

Role Purpose:

Producing of mine plans to support all mining activities of the underground mine including forecasts and budgets, integration of all mining functions including grade control and exploration and providing cross-functional technical and cost inputs in relation to mining and infrastructure studies and continuous improvement projects.

The primary role is to lead the team in the production of mine designs, schedules and ventilation strategies and plans, to enable the underground mine to meet budget physicals in a manner consistent with Company’s Vision and Values.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Lead a team of seniors and engineers to develop the short and medium-term mining plans, including ventilation strategies and plans
  • Liaise with different functions in the mine to assess risk and opportunities
  • Deliver physicals schedule and cost schedule for the underground mine with accuracy commensurate with the confidence of the reserve or resource for the full asset life
  • Optimise operational plans and schedules to maximise the value to the business
  • Assess mining methodology options to improve both cost and production metrics
  • Define the staffing and equipment requirements to achieve mining plans
  • Actively review and enhance future plans to uplift productivity
  • Providing guidance and mentoring to young Engineers


About You

  • Tertiary level qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent
  • Over several years operational or technical experience in an underground role and mine
  • Working experience in leading technical teams
  • Demonstrated DESWIK proficiency
  • Broad range of leadership, managerial and technical skills relevant to large scale bulk and semi selective underground mining
  • Sound understanding of the mining value and risk drivers in the business unit
  • First Class WA Mine Manager’s certificate of competency will be highly regarded
  • Prior experience in project management is desirable
  • Existing and ongoing valid Australian working rights (Mandatory but we may consider the transfer of existing employer sponsorship))
  • A current Western Australian “C” class drivers’ license
  • Be able to obtain a National Police Clearance
