The Opportunity
We currently have a great opportunity to appoint a new Supervisor: Geological Services within our Geology team at our Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. Accountable to the Superintendent: Geological Services.
This is a site role based at our Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on an 8/6 FIFO roster, where we operate direct flights to our sites from Perth and Kalgoorlie.
Role Purpose:
To manage the processes for providing resources (people, equipment and facilities) required to execute geology work according to scheduled work packages.
In this position, you will champion leadership to Senior and Geology Technicians, ensuring they are trained and well equipped.
Overseeing of the sample dispatch process and ensuring and acting as support to the underground grade control/regional exploration programmes.
Accountabilities:
- Over-seeing of team members to fulfil the daily/weekly production requirements of the Geological Services department
- Training and mentoring of up to 12
- Arranging of the clearing and rehabilitation of drill sites and access tracks
- Supervise surface drilling duties (AC and RC sampling)
- Complete stocktakes, orders and maintenance requests as required
- Oversee the RC mine grade control sample pick up and dispatch
- Liaise with the Assay Laboratory to problem solve QAQC issues
- Manage the archiving and cataloguing of diamond core, pulps and miscellaneous samples
- Operate computers including geology data entry, PLOD auditing and process forecasting
- Conduct regular safety interactions and Critical Control Checks
- Develop, review and amend work instructions, training guides and procedures
- Complete all tasks in accordance with all relevant procedures and the Duty of care for employees as legislated
- Attend and participate in safety and toolbox meetings, training courses and inductions as required
- Conduct formal risk assessments, JHAs and other tools used to manage risk
About You

- Attained Section 26 certification to lead core yard operations and ensure regulatory safety compliance
- Previous experience in a similar held role – (Leading an on-site team)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and good with numbers
- Knowledge of SAP and database systems
- Technician and Geology based understanding
- An understanding of OH&S in the workplace and of the risk management process
- High Risk Forklift ticket, Front End loader ticket and Heavy Rigid License would be highly regarded
- Certificate IV in Leadership and Management, WH&S, and/or Training and Assessment would be highly regarded
- Current manual C class WA drivers’ license
- Existing and ongoing Permanent work rights in Australia (Mandatory)
- The ability to obtain a current National Police Clearance
