At AngloGold Ashanti, we pride ourselves on having a collaborative workplace that is focused on providing a safe and inclusive environment for all. We want to create an environment where people feel comfortable to bring their whole, authentic self to work and feel safe, respected, and valued while doing so.

Our globally diverse, world-class portfolio is supported by focused exploration in the established and new gold producing regions of the world. We offer a working environment that allows every employee to contribute, learn and flourish.

In Australia we own and manage the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine, and the Tropicana Gold Mine (70% AGA owned 30% Regis Resources). These are two of Western Australia’s premier gold operations, with ongoing investment and exploration taking place across both open pit and underground operations at each site.

The Opportunity

At AGA we celebrate diversity – diversity of thought and experience is important to us. We look for people that have an abundance of willingness and are up to the challenge of making a difference. If you feel that you may not tick all the boxes below but believe you have something unique to contribute to our team, we strongly encourage you to apply – let’s have the conversation.

We are now seeking a Superintendent: Social Performance and Risk to join our Sustainability team. Accountable to the Manager: Environment, Social and Governance, this role is accountable to drive our commitment to creating lasting positive impact while advancing business objectives, minimising risk, and ensuring our operations not only meet but exceed ethical standards and community expectations.

This leader sees and understands interconnections and interdependence between stakeholders and develops and implements strategies that strengthen community relationships, particularly with Indigenous and non-Indigenous stakeholders. The role involves systems thinking, engaging, and energising people, and delivery results in the establishment of robust social performance frameworks and governance processes that both protect and enhance our social license to operate.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage community relations initiatives, ensuring our presence contributes positively to local communities and addresses their needs to the greatest extent practicable.
  • Proactively manage the incorporation of social performance and risk management within the mining operations and Exploration work plans, with sign-off by site General Managers and VP Sustainability.
  • Manage the Social Performance budget to achieve targets in terms of the defined outputs, operating costs,
    capital costs and timelines.
  • Foster relationships with Indigenous and non-Indigenous stakeholders including Native Title holders,
Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), government agencies,
and advocacy groups to understand opportunities and issues and collaborate on positive outcomes.
  • Review gap assessment to identify any Governance deficiencies across the Sustainability function and
develop an improvement plan with specific responsibilities, accountabilities, and timelines for delivery.
  • Understand the complex interdependencies between people, processes, business and system factors
that create risk, coordinating implementation of the AGA Risk and Reporting Strategy for the Australia region,
and providing support to operational HSE Risk management processes.
