ANGLOGOLD ASHANTI (IDUAPRIEM) LIMITED (A subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti Limited) operate the combine Teberebie and Iduapriem open-pits gold mines at Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana and has a work force of over 1400, including contractors.

 OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

• The role is a critical one as he/she serves as a link between the senior and junior staff roles. The role holder should be familiar with standard security procedures, post orders, concepts and practices relating to mining security operations. The role exposes one to varied tasks as he/she works under the supervision of a security supervisor. 
• In the discharge of one’s duties, the role holder shall observe human Rights as well as Voluntary Principles on Security & Human Rights. He/she shall be conversant with Protect, Respect and Remedy principles guiding United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Adhere to all company operating standards and assist the security supervisor in the execution of daily assignments.
• Carry out daily pre-deployment parades in the absence of the supervisor, share lessons and bring lessons to bear on work.
• Conduct SLAM before starting any task at the workplace, fix risks, and report all unsafe situations to the supervisor.
• Protect AAIL property against theft, loss, damage, and waste by sticking to post orders and assignment instructions.
• Interview visitors to obtain clarity on their mission before granting them access.
• Respect human rights of all people including illegal miners and intruders and comply with legal requirements.
• Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
• Respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to employees, contractors, suppliers, and visitors.
• Follow procedures for various initiatives, including fire prevention, property patrol, traffic control and accident investigations.
• Serve as an intelligent arm of the department by providing timely information that can be detrimental to the mine/company to security management.
• Complete reports by recording observations, information, and occurrences activities.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Minimum of Diploma in Security Supervision.
• GCE ‘O’ Level / WASSCE with the required training from Military, Police or Private Security Agencies.

Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years working experience as a Security within the Mining Industry with rank of Inspector.

Knowledge & Skills

• Good knowledge in drone operation
• Must have in-depth skills in Security.
• Knowledge of public safety and security
• Must be able to perform multiple tasks with quality of work as priority.
• Medically fit for the position and the environment
• Must possess a valid driver’s license of class B and proficiency in driving a light vehicle
• Knowledge of illegal/artisanal mining, theft of mine property, unauthorized entry, encroachment of mine boundary, damage to mine property, burglary/break-ins, community agitations, workers rioting, and concealment.
• Respect for Human Rights and compliance with the Voluntary Principles on Security & Human Rights and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
