OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
To ensure reliable and safe operation, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage electrical systems and radio communication networks critical to mine operations. The role involves technical expertise in maintaining equipment, identifying, and resolving faults, and ensuring compliance with relevant safety and industry standards.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
High-Voltage Electrical Systems
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on high-voltage equipment, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and power distribution systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults to minimize downtime.
- Conduct testing, commissioning, and system upgrades as required.
- Ensure adherence to high-voltage safety procedures and relevant electrical codes and regulations.
Radio Communications Systems
- Install, configure, and maintain radio communication systems, including base stations, handheld radios, and repeater networks.
- Monitor and optimize communication networks for performance and reliability.
- Diagnose and repair faults in radio frequency (RF) equipment and ensure minimal operational disruption.
- Implement software updates and firmware configurations for communication devices.
Technical Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, and test results.
- Prepare reports on system performance and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Develop and update technical documentation, including schematics and operating procedures.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Degree in Electrical Engineering & Electronics, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering & Electronics or it’s related from a recognized institution.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- 3-5 years of experience in high-voltage systems maintenance, radio communication systems and RF troubleshooting.
- High voltage switching and relevant radio communication certifications e.g. Motorola systems would be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage systems and radio communications technology, including RF principles.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
- Deep understanding of safety standards and best practices for high-voltage and radio systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for team collaboration and documentation.
- Ability to perform multiple tasking and manage competing priorities.
- Good human relations and ability to interact with people of diverse culture and values.
- Medical fitness for the position and the environment
- Must possess valid driving license and proficiency in driving light vehicle.
