We are now seeking an Electrical Technician to join our Underground Maintenance team in our Tropicana Gold Mine. Reporting to the Underground Electrical Maintenance Supervisor: you will have the opportunity to provide front line support and ensure all electrical works are carried out in a safe, timely, cost effective and environmentally responsible manner. This role is based at the Tropicana Gold Mine on 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster, where we operate direct flights to our sites from Perth and Kalgoorlie.

 

About the role

 

  • Doing repairs, maintenance and installation activities on infrastructure such as, motors, VSDs, transformers, substations, starter panels, distribution boards, RMU’s, ventilation fans, dewatering systems, instrumentation, communications, lighting, and other electrical systems
  • Carrying out scheduled statutory requirements work safely and efficiently.
  • Installing and maintaining underground reticulation systems, ensuring reliable power distribution.
  • Conducting breakdown and maintenance tasks on underground drilling equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Studying plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and or installations
  • After-hours availability on a rotating "Call Out" roster, responding to equipment breakdowns if required
  • Assist with equipment maintenance shutdown or power isolation co-ordination and execution

 

About you

  • Unrestricted WA Electrical Licence (Essential)
  • Electrical Instrumentation Certificate, PLCs and Automation experience (Desirable)
  • Data cabler’s license advantageous
  • Mining or heavy industry electrical maintenance experience (Essential)
  • Underground Mining electrical maintenance experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations, AS/NZS 3000 and other relevant Australian Standards.
  • Current High Voltage Switching certificate - however can assist with obtaining
  • Computer literacy: Word, Excel, Microsoft Projects, and SAP
  • WA ‘C’ Class manual driver's license
  • Senior First Aid
  • Existing and ongoing Permanent work rights in Australia (mandatory)
