The Opportunity
We are seeking an Emergency Services Officer Specialist to join our Safety team at our Tropicana Gold Mine.
Accountable to the Safety Superintendent, this role is accountable for the delivery of emergency preparedness, emergency response and emergency management activities focusing on delivery of the Tropicana Gold Mine Emergency Management Plan and Emergency Response Procedures. The role also supports health and safety delivery at the operation.
This role is based at the Tropicana Gold Mine on an 8/6 FIFO roster; we operate direct flights to our sites from Perth and Kalgoorlie.
Accountabilities:
- Supporting the implementation of our Tropicana Emergency Response Plan and auditing compliance and continually improving emergency response capabilities
- Assisting with and enhancing the site’s first response capabilities, including command and control of incidents as directed by the company and continuous improvement of processes and ensuring that appropriate awareness programs are undertaken
- Implementing and maintaining fire and evacuation plans and support delivery of training to site personnel
- Monitoring and responding to site emergency response systems including but not limited to fire systems and alert/evacuation systems
- Conducting on-site drug and alcohol testing
- Supporting implementation of the Mine Emergency Management Team (EMT) Annual Exercise Schedule and maintenance of EMT skills and response preparedness
- Conducting training (Fire Extinguisher, Fire Warden and Maintenance Training for ERT members)
- Review and create relevant procedures and work instructions
- Maintaining routine checks of emergency response equipment
- Assisting with delivering site security function
- Supporting the delivery of health and safety programs
- Scheduling and planning annual Emergency Mocks
About You

To be considered, we would like to see you have:
- A Cert III in Mines Rescue including the following modules: HAZMAT, Breathing Apparatus, Confined Space Rescue & Confined Space Entry, Fire Fighting and Fire Ext., Vehicle Extrication and Road Crash Rescue, BG4.
- Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment is desirable but not essential
- Cert IV in Health Care
- A National Certificate in Drug and Alcohol testing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously as well as in a small, tight-knit team environment
- Current Western Australian ‘C’ class driver’s license
- Ability to obtain a new National Police Clearance
