We are now seeking an experienced Specialist Mine Accountant to join our Finance team at the Tropicana Gold Mine. Reporting to the Senior Mine Accountant, this role is accountable for providing site wide accounts services and finance support. This role is based at the Tropicana Gold Mine on a 4:3 or equivalent FIFO roster.

 

About the role

 

  • Reconcile month end Site physical and financial reconciliation, liaise with Site departments as appropriate.
  • Coordinate the capital expenditure cycle from capital expenditure request to SAP Master Data; liaise with capital project owners for status updates and compile forecasting and reporting requirements; maintain the currency and integrity of the fixed asset register.
  • Identify performance constraints, cost improvement opportunities and understand variations to plan, and report information in an easy to digest yet precise format.
  • Provide end user support in SAP and schedule and execute training in regard to Manager and Superintendent financial toolkits.
  • Prepare Site timetables and assist in the compilation and provision of tools to facilitate detailed reconciliation and review of forecast, budget and life of mine plans.
  • Prepare materials for internal, joint venture, wider AGA including AGA business partner consumption.
  • Comply with AGAA Accounting policies, management systems and processes.
  • Provide support to the Senior Mine Accountant in financial and accounting activities as required.

 

About you

  • Minimum 2-3 years in similar roles or in an accounting role
  • Commerce or relevant Degree, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Exposure to SAP or ERP systems
  • Capital and fixed asset register accounting
  • MS Office software, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Existing and ongoing permanent work rights in Australia (Mandatory)
  • A National Police Clearance
  • CPA, CA or CIMA qualifications desirable
  • Working knowledge of the gold mining industry
