AngloGold Ashanti Company of Guinea (SAG), a subsidiary of the AngloGold Ashanti Group, is seeking highly experienced, qualified, enthusiastic and motivated Mechanics for the HME Department. The socio-professional category is ___ according to our current salary grid, but the function and the category could be revised downwards if the requirements of the position are not fully met by the successful candidate. The holder of these positions will be directly under the authority of the relevant HME Senior Supervisor of the various Sections.

 

A. Job Summary:

 

Responsible for executing daily routine (Mechanical) works according to prescribed guidelines. The incumbent will also ensure the application of knowledge and experience in maintaining HME equipment such that faults are identified and repaired in a responsible, safe manner for high equipment availability and reliability.

 

B. Main tasks and responsibilities:

 

Without being exhaustive, the responsibilities include:

  • Required to comply with all Safety Health and Environment (SHE) requirements at workplace.
  • Ensure that Heavy Mining Equipment are maintained as per standard procedures and positioned in line with GFG operational requirements and objectives.
  • Effective utilization and maintenance of provided HME Mechanical systems, standards, and procedures.
  • Contribute to the achievement of high equipment availability and within industry standard by providing service support timeously.
  • Propagate the effective use of PPEs according to standard procedures.
  • Undertake routine fault tracing and maintenance of machines in a timeous, safe, and productive manner.
  • Regularly contribute to cost saving practices and productivity improvement of assigned HME projects.
  • Responsible for always reporting any unsafe act or situation to supervisor (s) and perform any other related operational duty after adequate training.
  • Carry out/ perform daily pre-start checks of equipment/tools in and prior to leaving workshop as and when required. Escalate and report any anomalies to the respective Supervisor.
  • Recognize any vehicle or equipment anomalies that would indicate requirements for maintenance, report and escalate to the respective Supervisor.
  • Provide data and information to support the Maintenance Planner to close out work orders on the Planned Maintenance system on completion of the tasked work activities.
  • Carry out work cost effectively.
  • Execute work in a timely manner.
  • Operate all equipment within the safe working environment.
  • Stop equipment operation if a risk exists or unsafe to be used and report such to respective Supervisor.
  • Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good condition, security of workshop tools and equipment.
  • Responsible for the workshop housekeeping and maintain acceptable workshop working environment.
  • To be available for all call out/ standby work as and when required
  • Participate and enhance cost management/ saving programs as directed by the Supervisor.

 

C. Responsibility for health, industrial and environmental safety:

 

Comply with and enforce all health, industrial and environmental safety requirements.

 

D. Qualifications and skills required:

  • Relevant Trade Certificate or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution
  • A valid Guinee Drivers’ license
  • Operational Activities Awareness
  • Technically competent in the safe maintenance of CAT Mining equipment
  • Technical Knowledge in the application of Services Information Systems (SIS) and ET
  • Understanding of Mining Health & Safety Procedures
  • 3-4 years of work experience in the field of HME Maintenance
  • Social Interaction (teamwork)
  • Technical know-how in safe lifting practices
  • Experience in the application of health and safety measures
  • Data Interpretation and Usage
  • Good work ethics, planning and organizing skills.
  •  Goal and Action Orientation
  • Well-developed communication skills as well as the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels.
