The AGA Africa Business Unit is seeking experienced and self-motivated persons to join our Human Resources team.
The Opportunity
As the Culture & Capability Manager for AngloGold Ashanti Africa Business Unit , you will play a pivotal role in managing the planning, design, development, and delivery of a wide range of progressive culture, capability, learning, and Inclusion, Diversity & Equity (IDE) programs across the AFRICA Region. This role requires adapting and contextualizing global HR initiatives to resonate within the regional context, ensuring alignment with local nuances and business strategy. You will be instrumental in fostering a vibrant organizational culture that drives employee engagement and strengthens workforce capabilities.
Accountable for a comprehensive portfolio of organizational development and capability initiatives, including Talent Management, Career Development, Pipeline Planning, Learning and Development, Training, and IDE, you will strategically develop people capabilities and cultivate an organizational environment that supports business success. Your work will focus on building and retaining distinctive capabilities, enhancing the global workplace culture, advancing inclusion and diversity agendas, and strengthening the Employee Value Proposition (EVP) to deepen employee engagement and recognition throughout the region
Key Accountabilities
- Develop the annual budget and work plan for the Culture and Capability Department setting realistic and accurate expectations with business stakeholders - including the annual training and development calendar and annual project plans with leadership and stakeholder buy in.
- Provide expert business advice on the development of improvement initiatives to build organizational capability including talent pooling, succession planning, culture, employee engagement and IDE.
- Manage the advice to managers and employees on matters affecting workplace culture, team dynamics or individual performance. Develop coaching, mentoring and secondment programs. Manage structured talent and development processes.
- Develop frameworks and processes for leadership and skills development in order to ensure a pipeline of skills to enable the company's business strategy, in adherence to the regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Actively coach and support BU leaders on the implementation of talent, L&D and IDE processes and tools.
- Strategic mapping of learning and development, talent and IDE needs for Regional Leaders and critical skills roles and mapped to talent pooling and an appropriate development curriculum.
- Provide strategic workforce planning and pipelining support to the business to ensure we have the leadership and management skills ready to meet future challenges, taking into account current business needs and projected future business needs.
- Offer learning and capability consultancy and implementation services to line management and HR to ensure the integration of best practice methods to relevant solutions. Provide guidance on translating business requirements into learning and capability needs.
- Manage learning interventions in mitigation of people risk factors. .Establish integration points for Learning and Capability, Talent and IDE with all other HR components within the life cycle for the BU.
About You

Qualification, certifications & Professional Membership
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Recognised professional HR certification, such as:
- Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) – Level 5 or Level 7
- Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP)
- Human Resource Certification Institute (PHR / SPHR)
- Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners (IHRMP – where applicable regionally)
- Membership with a recognised professional HR body, such as:
- CIPD (Associate/Chartered Member – Assoc CIPD / MCIPD / FCIPD)
- SHRM Membership
- Relevant national HR professional body (e.g., Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners or equivalent)
- Additional certifications in any of the following areas will be an advantage:
- Organisational Development / Culture Transformation
- Change Management (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR)
- Leadership Development / Coaching
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI/IDE)
Experience & Skills
- 10 years’ experience in Human Resources or Learning and Development/Talent related work.
- Extensive experience in adult learning, training design and delivery. Management of Teams and development of Team members
- Demonstrated experience in designing, developing and end to end delivery of projects.
- Collaboration and ability to partner with others, to influence change at various levels within the business.
- Work with multiple stakeholders at all levels within the business and external representation of AGA.
- Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills. Communication and motivating skills.
- Ability to take a whole-of-business view to people development.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound and timely decisions by quickly assembling the facts to develop action priorities.
- Planning, budgeting, forecasting, consultant management, legislative compliance. Stakeholder management. Facilitation Skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex information and make effective, well-reasoned decisions and able to draft a business case including the identification and tracking of relevant metrics
