We are now seeking an Assistant Surveyor to join our Underground Survey team at our Tropicana.
Reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor, this position supports the surveying team in the provision of all survey data requirements and services for the operation safely and effectively within the required timeframes.
This role is based at our Tropicana Gold Mine on an 8 days on/6 days off FIFO roster from Perth and/or Kalgoorlie.
Accountabilities:
- Taking an active approach to safety to ensure you and your team is in line with the company’s values, policies and procedures
- Preparation and stocking of survey consumables and vehicles
- Provide assistance with office-based data processing including collection and archiving of survey documents and plans
- Scheduling and prioritising survey tasks liaising between technical departments and mining contractor.
- Performing surveying activities necessary for the safe achievement of targeted mine production of underground development, production and drilling.
- Maintain hardware and resources and equipment calibrated as per calibration schedule and records of all calibration certificates maintained.
- Be an active team member contributing to business unit for delivery on critical tasks
About You

- Undertaking or looking to undertake formal studies toward a qualification in Surveying (TAFE WA Certificate IV in Surveying or equivalent)
- Previous understanding of the gold mining process and mine surveying is desirable
- While not essential some underground exposure will be highly regarded
- Ability to work in both team environment and autonomously
- Very good practical, planning and prioritising skills combined with the ability to build on the experience gained
- Current C Class driver’s licence
- A National Police Clearance
- Permanent work rights in Australia
