PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
Is to provide Technical Specialist support on Generating and Developing a pipeline of exploration
targets through systematic Ranking and Consolidation, furthermore, is to streamline the technical
execution of exploration work programs in line with the GGM exploration strategy and E4V guidelines.
The role holder will also be required to continuously review and elevate the confidence on exploration
targets for quick turn-over of mineral resource and reserve growth to sustain the Life of Mine.
- Bachelor of Science in Geology / Advanced Diploma in Geology or Higher.
- Valid Tanzanian Driving Licence for Light Vehicles.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years of working experience in Mineral Exploration, Open pit and Underground mining.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of Exploration Business/ Exploration Budgeting & Mining Cycle.
- Competence on computer-aided softwares such as Arc GIS, Datamine & Leapfrog.
- Competence in Microsoft office suite.
- Good knowledge of geological data analysis, interpretation and 3D geological modelling.
MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- The role holder will comply, review and implement the HSE operating procedures and checklists and able to draft corrective actions, improvement or modification to plans.
- The role holder is required to be analytical on HSE matters and able to figure out of what could go wrong and what needs to be done to work safely before starting the task.
- Will evaluate the training and development needs of subordinates on HSE matters and make provision for informal and formal training wherever required to enhance the skills, knowledge and awareness of the team members.
- Will regularly review and refine the exploration process map which defines the hazards & risks associated with field exploration work programs.
- Will promptly report all injuries, illnesses and incidents and participate or lead the investigation.
- The role holder will be required to perform Personal Effectiveness Appraisals and for the Subordinates and discuss effectiveness as per guidelines.
- The role holder will design the exploration work plans and assist the Specialist 3-Exploration to integrate the plans into exploration strategies for scheduling the implementation.
- The role holder will develop a pipeline of exploration targets and technically rank and priorities them based on geological facts and level of confidence for potential Mineral Resource and reserve growth.
- The role holder will always carryout detailed geological data interpretation including assay results and refining of geological models to support resource estimation process.
- The role holder will provide technical specialist skills and knowledge to build and sustain a team of subordinates capable of integrating site-based exploration strategies which would balance the current and future requirements/options to support the LOM.
- The role holder will manage people and material resources and identify the technical training/development needs of the team to promote and maintain strong technical operational capability for successful execution of work plans.
- The role holder will drive the implementation of processes and systems needed to effectively execute the work, monitor progress, and facilitate continuous improvement to ensure timely maturity of the exploration projects to deliver to Business Plan.
- The role holder will prepare accurate technical reports & presentations, maps, plans and sections that translate the work objectives and business needs.
- Will review the exploration methodologies on a continuous basis to ensure efficient and cost-effective utilization of technical skills, financial, technology and manpower resources.
- The role holder will monitor and ensure effectiveness of quality control and assurance of current operation processes.
- The role holder will be required to develop and maintain good work relationships with departmental contactors as well as the surrounding communities as per company values and code of conduct & ethics.
