Role Purpose and Context

For Siguiri Gold Mine to produce gold according to budget and supporting forecast plans it is necessary for the processing plant to receive the right quality ore at the right time. This requirement is determined by the blend sequence according to grade, hardness, and rock size for the material sent to the 3 ROM bins. The purpose of the Ore Controller (ROM) role is to ensure the quality and quantity of the ore fed at the ROM bin complies with the blend specification.

3. Role Accountabilities

Compliance with all SAG Mine and SAG MRM Departmental SHE Policies and Procedures.

· Identify risks and hazards in the work environment

· Act to immediately correct unsafe conditions and acts

· Stop work if unsafe conditions or acts cannot be corrected.

· Communicate safety observations to Production Geology Supervisor

Compliance with all SAG Mine and SAG MRM Departmental Policies and Procedures

· Report all issues to your Manager that do not comply with procedures

· Act to immediately correct any condition or act that does not comply with procedure

· Stop work to correct the condition or act that is not following procedure

4. Role Outputs

Implement and record all daily blending instructions

· Ensure compliance to the blending cycle by truck and loader operators. Intervene if blending ratio is not adhered to by operators.

· Intervene if large rocks or foreign objects (wood / metal) is sent to the ROM Bin.

· Intervene if safety on the Rom pad is compromised during equipment movements by informing senior shift foreman.

Perform elevation checks on ROM Pad

· Request Mining Supervisor to correct elevation

Ensure all direct tip and stockpiled loads are recorded by date, truck ID / Loader bucket, material type and grade, and VIMS digital tonnage display (if available).

· Monitor compliance to the blending cycle integrating direct tip loads from the pit, where the appropriate material type is required in the blend cycle.

· Timely intervention & communication when direct tipping is not adhered to by truck operators as blend cycle instructions require.

Ensure all trucks arriving at the ROM pad have material identification boards displayed

· Monitor that trucks display correct material boards for their stockpile tipping locations.

· Intervene when material is tipped in the wrong location according to the ore display boards.

Maintain good communication with Plant Control Room Operator, shift Mining Supervisor, Ore Controller (Pit), Modular Fleet Management, and Production Geologist

· Ensure that the correct quality ore is fed to the ROM bin according to the blending cycle specified by Mining Supervisor and Modular Fleet Management.

· Communicate with Ore Controller (Pit) to understand what material is coming to the ROM pad from each pit and record direct tip or stockpile designation according to grade and material type.

· Communicate the blend cycle to the Plant Control Room Operator and escalate any problems the plant is having with the blend to the Mining Shift Supervisor.

· Escalate to Mining Supervisor and Production Geologist if large rocks are reporting to the ROM bin and / or re-handle stockpile.

5. Role Authorities

1	Monitor the health and safety of colleagues and take immediate action to correct unsafe conditions and acts
2	Comply with all SAG Mine and SAG MRM Departmental SHE Policies and Procedures
3	Monitoring authority to stop dilution and ore loss practices and immediately escalate to the Mining Shift Supervisor, Ore Control Support Leader (on shift), and Production Geologist.

6. Person Specification

Qualifications	Experience	Legal Requirements
At least ability to read and write.	At least 6 months’ experience working in an open pit mining environment.	Guinean national
Geology or Mining Engineer Technician level education.	2 to 3 months’ prior experience required.	Guinean national

Technical Competencies	Leadership Competencies
Good observation and recording capability.	Monitor instructions given by modular and Mining shift supervisors are carried out by operators.
Ability to make decisions if material and blend cycle deviate from specifications.
