What We’re Looking For:

AngloGold Ashanti is seeking an experienced and highly hands-on Head of Legal North America to lead all legal and compliance matters across North America. This role provides both strategic guidance and practical, day-to-day legal support to enable business growth while managing legal, commercial, and regulatory risk.

A practical, solutions-driven legal leader who’s as comfortable drafting and negotiating in the field and advising executives in the boardroom. You thrive in dynamic environments, balance risk with opportunity, and bring a collaborative, business-focused approach to every challenge.

This is not a typical corporate legal position — it’s an embedded, action-oriented role that partners closely with project teams, and leadership teams to solve problems in real time and support on-the-ground execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise on commercial contracts, mining,  land and water rights, regulatory compliance, and employment law.
• Serve as Compliance Officer for North America and oversee corporate governance requirements.
• Support the Nevada Project, ensuring timely and compliant delivery.
• Mentor and develop a small, high-performing legal team.
• Drive efficiency through legal technology and process improvements.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Colorado or Nevada.
• 12+ years’ combined experience in a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal department.
• Proven leadership experience in complex, multi-jurisdictional environments.
• Background in mining, natural resources, or large-scale industrial projects strongly preferred.
• Expertise in commercial contracting, property and land law, water rights, employment law, and compliance.
