SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE OF ROLE

The Operational Technology (OT) intern will be responsible for supporting the Operational Technology team on projects that may include developing dashboards to analyze software license usage, leveraging GIS and mine planning software to create spatial models (such as Virtual Reality) and writing procedures and guidelines.

Role Accountabilities:

• Use ArcGIS and CAD software to create, manipulate, and validate 2D and 3D data in support of GIS, Virtual Reality (VR), and other spatial data projects for our global mining operations.  Example data types include mine designs, satellite imagery, drilling, infrastructure, land boundaries, etc.
• Create PowerBI reports / dashboards to better understand license usage across some of our major software platforms
• Development of python scripts to automate data retrieval
• Support the documentation of above projects by contributing to procedures and guidelines, and the governance related to these
• An interest in gaming development or digital twinning (familiarization with Unreal Engine, Unity, or ArcGIS Reality is advantageous, but not necessary)

Technical Competencies:

• Experience with mine planning and geology software platforms (Datamine, Deswik, Leapfrog Geo or Vulcan).
• Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS Pro) and relevant geospatial extension tools
• Ability to create dashboards for reporting and analytics (PowerBI)
• Experience with gaming development platforms such as Unreal Engine (advantageous, but not necessary)

Leadership & Management Competencies:

• Detailed organizational, planning, and analytical skills.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Mine Engineering, Geology, Information Technology or Computer Science

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

• In process of completing a degree in Mine Engineering, Geology, Information Technology or Computer Science
• A basic understanding of the mining value chain
• Problem-solving skills
• Be self-motivated; have an “investigative / curious” nature; and be driven to help the entire organization successfully achieve its goals
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills- listening, reasoning, speaking, and presenting

COMPENSATION:

Undergraduate: $27/hour

Graduate: $35/hour
