SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE OF ROLE:
AngloGold Ashanti is seeking candidates to fill the position of Land Manager, responsible for the management of the Company’s North American land holdings and securing mineral and surface interests to support the company’s immediate and long-term objectives. The role will be accountable for acquiring and maintaining land and other rights, securing and managing land related agreements, ensuring compliance with legal obligations, and managing internal and external stakeholder partnerships. The role will also play a key part in driving the implementation of the global risk governance framework, leading North American strategy and innovation, and spearheading high-impact special projects as they emerge.
Role accountabilities:
- Ensure compliance with legislative and contractual requirements to maintain the Company’s mineral and surface rights in good standing by making necessary filings, reporting, payments and performing other obligations, in advance of key deadlines.
- Co-ordinate title research and examination processes to ensure the validity of the Company’s surface and mineral interests.
- Manage the Company’s land and spatial property records and lead the ongoing development, maintenance and improvement of the Company’s land management database and related GIS initiatives, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standards and accurately reflect the Company’s land interests.
- On behalf of business partners, negotiate agreements and transactions with third parties and government agencies to secure the rights needed for the Company to explore and develop its mineral resources.
- Provide comprehensive land management expertise, strategic advice and direction to the business on mineral and surface interests in North America to support the Company’s project development and exploration objectives.
- Provide specialized technical support to business partners for environmental management, regulatory compliance, permitting, and other approvals, empowering them to make well informed decisions to optimize the land portfolio and cultivate a forward-thinking approach to risk management and strategic planning.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders and oversee complex land due diligence processes to identify and mitigate transaction risks associated with acquisitions, leases, and property rights.
- Continuously build and maintain a thorough understanding of land rights held by competitors near the Company’s projects, identifying strategic opportunities for land acquisition or divestment to support business objectives.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders, including landowners, rights holders, government officials, community members, and industry partners.
- Contribute to the creation, enhancement and delivery of the Company's global land governance and risk management strategy, special projects and other Corporate led initiatives, as needs arise.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Land Management, Mineral Rights, Geology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Preferred - Certified Professional Landman (CPL) or Registered Professional Landman (RPL).
- Proficient in GIS and Mapping skills.
- Proficient in Land Management software systems.
REQUIRED GENERAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 10 years of land management and related experience.
- Experience working with various DOI agencies. e.g., BLM, USFS, EPA, local utilities.
- Knowledge of Local, State, Federal laws and regulations related to mining, land use, mineral and land rights, contracts.
- Ability to understand and interpret legislation and contractual requirements.
- Strongly motivated to excel in a fast-paced environment.
- Superior attention to detail.
- Ability to travel on a regular basis.

- Licensed to operate a vehicle.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. As per operational requirements.
COMPENSATION:
Base Salary Range - $145,000- $165,000
