The Health & Safety (H&S) Specialist will provide technical expertise and field-based support for safe, responsible, and sustainable exploration activities across multiple jurisdictions. The role ensures consistent application of H&S standards, provides technical guidance, and builds capability in the local team base. The core orientation of this role is outward-facing and applying technical expertise directly into field programs and support the regional teams to align to GFX global systems. GFX processes, workflows and systems are also included within the responsibility of this role. The timeframe of focus is 6-12 months. The H&S Specialist is accountable for the support and execution of work and system oversight on the H&S functions within Greenfields Exploration (GFX). 

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Leadership

  • Champion a proactive safety culture and model H&S best practices
  • Identify, communicate, and escalate risks and non-compliance issues
  • Support implementation and enforcement of H&S procedures and management plans
  • Monitor system effectiveness and recommend improvements
  • Promote alignment with global H&S standards, values, and expectations

Planning & Execution

  • Co-develop and implement annual H&S improvement plans
  • Support integration of H&S into both short- and long-term exploration strategies
  • Coordinate risk assessments and ensure controls are embedded in field programs
  • Partner with contractors and stakeholders to ensure personnel readiness, onboarding, and compliance
  • Deliver regular reporting on H&S performance, activities, and compliance

Technical Expertise

  • Provide expert H&S advice to exploration leadership and teams
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal H&S requirements
  • Lead audits, training sessions, and field engagement activities
  • Support incident management, including investigations and knowledge sharing
  • Develop and implement procedures, training materials, and emergency response frameworks
  • Drive contractor adherence to H&S standards

Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Support H&S data collection, reporting, and visualization in partnership with GIS and database teams
  • Track performance metrics and communicate insights to stakeholders
  • Continuously improve systems, processes, and data quality
  • Contribute to efficient communication across teams and regions

Qualifications 

  • Education: Associate degree in Safety & Health or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience: 5-7+ years of experience in mining and/or exploration environments
  • Strong knowledge of H&S regulations, systems, and field applications
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate 4WD vehicles
  • First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to work effectively in remote and field-based environments
