SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE OF ROLE:

 

Actively contribute to the discovery and delineation of mineral resources in North America through the execution of work programs and by providing support to the Geologists and other technical staff.

 

Role accountabilities:

  • Ensure all required on-ground works are complete prior to program commencement in accordance with company values, policies, standards, procedures, relevant laws, regulations and conditions. This involves the direct supervision of AGA contractors.
  • On ground management of fly camps and sampling programs through: 
    • Plan and supervise daily tasks of Geotechnicians and contractors.
    • Verify sampling best practices through implementation and monitoring of QAQC.
    • Supervise sample transportation from site location to sample submittal.
    • Logistics planning to ensure adequate supplies of consumables throughout sampling programs.
    • Maintain safe practices and procedures in accordance with predetermined standards.
  • Prioritizes tasks for, and supervises, AGA technicians to ensure cost effective time management.
  • Ensure timely preparation of drill programs.
  • Undertake rehabilitation of disturbance as required.
  • Supervision of contractors in the field to implement program plans in a safe and sustainable manner.
  • Aid the exploration geology team in the execution of field base activities including assist and coordinate geologic sampling, drill core geotechnical logging, sample preparation and dispatch, and logistical coordination.
  • Ensure all exploration activities/tasks are conducted according to the requirements of the relevant work programme or as requested by the relevant manager.
  • Manage warehouse and external facilities; Both operationally and additions/improvements.
  • Management of vehicle fleet including regular service, maintenance, fuel cards, and booking of field vehicles.
  • Assist with data management and organization.
  • Supervise the organization and management of samples and drill core within the warehouse and external facilities.
  • Applies appropriate controls to manage identified risks. 
  • Contribute towards creating a team culture, where safety is the first value.

  • Strong awareness of, and ability to manage safety, health, community, and environmental requirements in the workplace and at the project site.
  • Performs activities with limited supervision while remaining within agreed boundaries of activities, methodologies, and company policies & procedures.
  • Foster a positive team environment and able to function as both a supportive peer and/or a team leader as the project or work program requires.
  • Able to collaborate well with others, and willing to act as a mentor to both peers and junior staff in areas of expertise.

 

Technical Competencies:

  • Basic understanding of exploration techniques, including mapping and sampling required.
  • Willingness to work extended periods of a rotation in the field
  • An understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, and acQuire is preferred.
  • Hazard risk management
  • Contractor management

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • High school degree or equivalent certification
  • Valid driver’s license

 

REQUIRED GENERAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • 4-10 years exploration experience
  • Previous supervisor experience
  • Previous experience in managing exploration programs.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining 4WD vehicles.
  • First aid required but can be undertaken after employment

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a full-time predominantly field based position.

Days and hours of work are typically on rotation with 18 days on site and 10 days off, with 12-hour workdays.

Rotations and hours may be adjusted to reflect periods dedicated to office based or other non-field related activities.

 

COMPENSATION:

Base Salary Range $34.00 - $38.00 per hour
