SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE OF ROLE

The U.S. Benefits Program Manager is responsible for the strategic design, implementation, and administration of U.S. employee benefits programs. This role provides end-to-end ownership of health, life, disability, and retirement plans, including vendor management, regulatory compliance, and employee communications. The position ensures benefits programs are competitive, cost-effective, compliant, and clearly understood across the U.S. employee population, while supporting broader total rewards and organizational objectives.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of U.S. benefits programs in alignment with organizational strategy and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide program-level oversight of benefits vendors and partners, ensuring service excellence, cost efficiency, and compliance with contractual and regulatory standards.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive benefits communication strategies, including educational content, enrollment materials, and training sessions to enhance employee understanding and engagement.

  • Manage the full benefits program lifecycle, including annual open enrollment, qualifying life events, eligibility changes, and escalated employee inquiries.

  • Analyze benefits utilization, cost trends, and benchmarking data; deliver insights and recommendations to inform plan design, budgeting, and vendor strategy.

  • Oversee benefits compliance activities, including plan audits, Form 5500 filings, ACA reporting, and ongoing monitoring of federal and state regulatory changes.

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of benefits data within HRIS and benefits administration platforms; resolve complex benefit issues with a customer-focused approach.

  • Partner cross-functionally with HR, Payroll, Finance, Legal, and external consultants to support total rewards initiatives, well-being programs, and HR technology enhancements.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience managing U.S. benefits programs.

  • Demonstrated experience overseeing multiple benefit plans and vendor relationships with a high degree of accuracy and accountability.

  • Strong record of maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment.

  • Proven ability to collaborate and influence across functions and levels.

REQUIRED GENERAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience within mining, natural resources, or similarly structured global or field-based industries.

  • CEBS or other benefits-related certification preferred.

  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms (e.g., SuccessFactors) and benefits administration systems.

  • Experience supporting benefits compliance within a publicly traded or highly regulated environment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a full-time position. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening or weekend work may be required based on business or operational needs.

COMPENSATION

Base Salary Range: $120,000 – $150,000
