JOB TITLE : Category Specialist Business Services
LOCATION : Johannesburg
REPORTS TO : Manager SCM Strategy & Planning
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Category Specialist – Business Services supports the delivery of value, risk mitigation, and operational continuity through effective procurement and commercial management of business services categories. The role works closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support category strategies, sourcing, contract management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
WORK ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support category strategy development, sourcing activities (RFx, evaluations, award recommendations), and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Assist with contract development, negotiations, lifecycle management, and supplier performance monitoring.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to align commercial solutions with business requirements and manage supplier-related risks.
- Ensure compliance with procurement governance, policies, and ethical sourcing standards.
- Contribute to process improvements, spend analysis, reporting, and best-practice adoption.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, Engineering, or related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in procurement, supply chain, or commercial roles.
- Experience in category management support, contract administration, and supplier management.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office; ERP/SRM experience advantageous.
